Dec 5 Senatorial By-Election: Kosofe Key Stakeholders Pledge Support to Tokunbo Abiru

The chances of the All Progressives Congress Lagos East
Senatorial Candidate Mr. Tokunbo Abiru of winning the forthcoming by-election
has received a strong boost as key stakeholders in Kosofe Local Government Area
have pledged to support and vote for the former Managing Director of Polaris
Bank on December 5th rescheduled Senatorial by-election.
The stakeholders comprising of Leaders of Transport workers,
Artisans, Youth, Women, Traders, CDC/CDA, Muslim and Christian clergy made the
pledge on Thursday, November 26 when they converged at Galaxy Events centre, Ojota
to meet with the APC Lagos East Senatorial Candidate.
In keen anticipation of the arrival of the former Group
Managing Director of First Bank to the Local Government, the ornate banquet
hall of the Galaxy Events Centre had been filled up with the invited key
stakeholders who had thronged the venue of the event as early as 8am from the
length and breadth of the local government.
However, after long wait the event finally took off at around
2pm without the arrival of Mr. Tokunbo Abiru as the Lawmaker representing
Kosofe Constituency 1 Hon. Sanni Okanlawon and Director of Special Duties
Tokunbo Abiru Campaign Team Hon. Musiliu Aigoro presided over the event.
The lawmaker Representing Kosofe Constituency 1, Hon. Sanni
Okanlawon made a passionate plea to the invited community stakeholders in
Kosofe LGA to deliver the bloc votes on the day of the by-election to Mr.
Tokunbo Abiru.
He averred that it would be in the best interest of the
residents of Kosofe Local Government Area to vote for Mr. Tokunbo Abiru as it
would be easy for the area to access developmental projects from Abuja.
He therefore charged them to go back to their different places
and mobilize their neighbours, friends and family to vote massively for APC and
Mr Tokunbo Abiru on December 5th.
On his own part, the Director of Special Duties of Tokunbo
Abiru Campaign Team, Hon. Musiliu Aigoro apologized for the event starting
behind schedule and for the absence of Mr. Tokunbo Abiru.
Hon. Aigoro explained to the invited stakeholders that Mr. Tokunbo
Abiru had sent his sincere and unreserved apology for his inability to come to
the event as planned due to force majeure.
He added that Mr. Abiru holds Kosofe Local Government in high
esteem because of its importance to electoral successes of APC in east
senatorial and Lagos state over the past years.
He however made a passionate appeal to the invited
stakeholders to come out in large number on December 5th and vote
for Tokunbo Abiru.
Hon. Aigoro also made it known that the chairman of Kosofe Local
Government, Hon. Afolabi Sofola couldn’t attend the event due to health reason,
adding that the chairman who is also the LOC chairman of the campaign had in no
small measure contributed to the successful hosting of the event in the local
government by making provision for the venue of the event which was being used
and some other necessary materials needed at the event.
Earlier, the CDC chairman of Kosofe Local Government Area Hon.
Segun Babatunde had given the opening address. In his address Hon. Babatunde
welcomed the invited stakeholders from different walks of life and thanked them
for their supports.
Afterwards, he called on them to arrive at the polling centres
on the day of the by-election and vote en bloc for Mr. Tokunbo Abiru as
senator.
In similar vein the former Deputy Executive Secretary of
Kosofoe Local Government Hon. Jumoke Dairo in her address while apologising for
the late commencement of the event appealed to invited stakeholders to go back
home and mobilized their neighbours, families, colleagues and friends and vote
for Mr. Tokunbo Abiru on the day of the by-election.
Subsequently the invited stakeholders then took turns to
express their firm supports for APC and Mr. Tokunbo Abiru for the forthcoming
by-election.
First to speak was the secretary of the league of Imam in
Kosofe Local Government Area. He said although they don’t campaign nor
participate in partisan politics, they however support good candidate or party.
He therefore prayed for the success of Mr. Tokunbo Abiru and appealed to him
not to forget those who voted for him if eventually elected.
Conversely, the chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Kosofe LGA Pastor Olorunsheyanu was very affirmative in his statement firmly expressing their firm support for Mr. Tokunbo Abiru.
He made it known that their religious association present in
all the 16 local government and LCDA in Lagos East Senatorial District have
resolved to give their total support for Mr. Tokunbo Abiru.
And also the chairman
of LASPOTA stated that all his members are strongly behind APC in Lagos East
Senatorial District and promised to mobilized them to vote for Mr. Tokunbo
Abiru on December 5th.
The chairman of
Tricycles Associaton of Nigeria, Kosofe LGA, Apostle Oluwafemi Oresanya stated
emphatically that they too are going to support APC and would vote
Overwhelmingly for Mr. Tokunbo Abiru on December 5th.
While the secretary of Association of kosofe Market traders
also came to deliver the message of Iyaloja of Kosofe affirming her supporting
for Mr.Tokunbo Abiru.
The leaders of Arewa
and Ndigbo in Kosofe Local Government Area Alhaji Abubakir and Chief Ejiofor
said they are solidly behind Mr. Tokunbo Abiru because he has been carrying
them along in the scheme of things.
While the duo of Mr. Akanbi Yisa Adeniji of National Youth
Council Kosofe and Comrade Raphael Bakare of Kosofe LGA APC youths said their
members have resolved to support Mr. Tokunbo Abiru as he has always been
supportive of the youths.
Present at the event are the local government councillors,
executive members, ward chairmen, LGA executives, Ward executive, Youth, women
and party elders.
