KOSOFE CDC CHAIRMAN, SEGUN BABATUNDE, ARRESTED BY POLICE OVER FRAUDULENT RELOCATION OF COMMUNITY TRANSFORMER.

* Warned To Stop Addressing Himself As Honourable

Kosofe Local Government Area CDC chairman Mr. Segun Babatunde has reportedly been arrested by the men of Nigeria Police Force, Zone Il Onikan Lagos, for allegedly relocating a transformer belonging to a community in Oworoshoki in Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State fraudulently.

Kosofe Reporters gathered that the CDC chairman was arrested on Friday evening at around 5pm and was accused of conspiring with others of relocating a transformer belonging to Adebare Community Development Association, Oworoshoki to an affluent community in the same area fraudulently.

Mr. Babatunde, who an amorphous political group in Kosofe, known as "Kandahar" is secretly pushing for to become the next APC LGA Chairman of Kosofe Local Government Area , was reported to have forcefully and fraudulently taken away the 500KV transformer belonging to the community sometime in 2019.

The transformer was reported to have been given to the community by the former executive chairman of Kosofe Local Government Hon. Muyiwa Adedeji in 2011.

A community leader in Adebare Community Development Association who spoke to Kosofe Reporters disclosed that the CDC chairman had lied to the residents of the community that the executive chairman of Kosofe at the time, Hon. Afolabi Sofola, directed him to take the transformer to another community.

She said when Hon. Afolabi Sofola was later contacted by the community over the matter, he denied ever giving such directive to the CDC chairman.

She revealed that it was one Mrs. Taiwo Olaniyi, his deputy chairperson, that later informed the entire community that the CDC chairman had actually sold the transformer to an affluent community at Papa, Oworoshoki.

She further stated that several efforts made in the past to compel Mr. Segun Babatunde to return the transformer to the community proved abortive until his arrest on Friday evening.

She stated that Mr. Babatunde at a point brought thugs to the area to threaten and harrass her and other residents of the community for pestering him to return the stolen transformer.

She further disclosed that when Mr. Segun Babatunde was asked during interrogation at Zone Il Onikan whether he had documents backing the transfer of the transformer to the community he took it to, he said there was no such documents.

And when he was further asked why he fraudulently took the transformer to the affluent community whom its residents could easily afford to buy a new one, she said, Mr. Babatunde responded by stating that the community were in dire need of light, which was why he took it there.

The community leader also stated that Mr. Segun Babatunde was told by the interrogator to henceforth stop addressing himself as Honourable since he has never contested or held a public office.

The community leader told Kosofe Reporters that the Adebare Community has complete documents of the transformer given to the community by Kosofe Local Government during the administration of Prince Muyiwa Adedeji while there was no such documents backing the transfer of the transformer to another community.

She noted that the community has not been enjoying stable electricity supply since Mr. Segun Babatunde fraudulently took the transformer away.

As at the time of filing this report, Mr. Segun Babatunde is still being detained at Zone Il Onikan Lagos.
