LASBCA Ignores Suspension Order, Continues Demolition of Residential Buildings in Oworonshoki Community

Contrary to widespread reports that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had ordered the suspension of the demolition of buildings in Ojulari community, Oworonshoki for two weeks, the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has continued the demolition exercise of the area, leaving many residents homeless. The suspension order, which was reportedly issued following the intervention of Hon. Sanni Okanlawon, the lawmaker representing Kosofe constituency 1, appears to have been a hoax. According to one of the affected residents, who expressed frustration and disappointment at the government's actions, Mrs. Grace Familusi, the entire area has now been demolished, except for a Celestial Church and Oworonshoki Police Station. The demolition, which began at 2 am on Saturday, was carried out with the aid of bulldozers and RRS officers, who allegedly woke residents and gave them only 5 minutes to pack their belongings. KOSOFE LG PARTICIPATES IN 2023 COMMUNITY DAY

The Kosofe Local Government's CDC/CDA on Thursday 19 January, 2023 joined the rest of the communities in Lagos State to celebrate this year's Community Day. The Community Day celebration which is an annual event was held at Police College Ikeja with hundreds of community leaders taking part in the event. The Kosofe Local Government Contingent was led by the Supervisor for agricultural and social services, Hon. Saka Kehinde and HOD Agriculture and Social Services Mrs. Adebobuyi Olabisi. The event was graced by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and some functionaries of the State Government.

A prominent figure in Oworonshoki community, Chief Akinola Ogunduyilemi, who made official complaints to the police on the fraudulent disposal of a vehicle belonging to Oworonshoki Community by Mr. Segun Babatunde, the SSA on community affairs to the executive chairman of Kosofe Local Government and some members of Oworonshoki Joint CDA has been violently assaulted by some members of the Joint CDA. HRM Oba Babatunde Saliu on Monday September 12, 2022 made his first public outing 90 days after his installation as the paramount traditional ruler of Oworonshoki Kingdom. Oba Babatunde Saliu took a walk through some major streets of Oworonshoki Kingdom alongside thousands of people to symbolise the completion of the mandatory 90 days in seclusion as demanded by Yoruba tradition. The Oloworo of Oworo was escorted through the major streets and back to the palace by members of the Ogboni fraternity, the palace Chiefs, Oworonshoki council of Elders, Oworonshoki Youth, Women and residents who had thronged his palace as early as 10 a.m. While moving around the town, Oba Babatunde Saliu occasionally stopped at specific places of historical importance such as Elebo shrine, Ebute, Awanatu Junction, Miyaki Street Junction and Orile Oworonshoki to offer special prayers for the progress, peace and prosperity of the kingdom. BASHIR OLORUNTOYIN SALIU ROYAL FAMILY MARKS ONE-YEAR REMEMBRANCE OF LATE MONARCH

The Oba of Oworonshoki Kingdom HRM Oba Babatunde Saliu joined other members of the royal family on Thursday to mark the one-year remembrance of the late monarch of Oworonshoki Kingdom Oba Bashir Oloruntoyin Saliu. Oba Bashir Oloruntoyin Saliu who joined his ancestors on August 30, 2021 after a brief illness was committed to mother earth on September 8, 2021. And on Thursday, the sons and daughters of the late monarch from far and near converged at the palace of Oloworo of Oworonshoki Kingdom to remember the life and times of their late monarch who ruled the Kingdom for over twenty years. OLOWORO OF OWORO FACILITATES RECONSTRUCTION OF 4 ROADS, AS LASG BEGINS RECONSTRUCTION OF PALACE ROAD

* Says First Bank and Zenith will commence operations soon The reigning monarch of Oworonshoki Kingdom HRM Oba Babatunde Saliu has facilitated the reconstruction of four inner roads in Oworonshoki Kingdom and the construction of the link road to Iyana Oworo Berger bus stop a few months after his installation. The roads which have been earmarked for reconstruction are Palace road, Miyaki Street, Adam/Onabajo streets and Papa Secretariat. The Lagos State Public Works Corporation has already commenced reconstruction works on Palace road while Kerbs are about to be laid on the link road to Iyana Oworo Berger Bus stop. The reconstruction of four inner roads in Oworonshoki Kingdom is in fulfilment of the promises made by the monarch to his subjects after his installation that he would bring positive transformation to the community. OJORA ROYAL FAMILY PAYS ROYAL VISIT TO OLOWORO OF OWORO

At the behest of the paramount traditional ruler of Ijora Kingdom, Oba Fatai Aremu Aromire, the Ojora Royal family on Tuesday paid a royal visit to the Oloworo of Oworoshoki Kingdom Oba Babatunde Saliu (ELEBO II) at his palace.  The palace of the paramount traditional ruler of Oworonshoki Kingdom was agog with hundred of Ojora Royal family comprising of White Cap Chiefs, Women and the Ejiwa Elegba. The Whitecap Chiefs were led by the Lisa Abaraoje of Ijora Kingdom Chief Akeem Ajadi Ojora.  The Chief host Oba Babatunde Saliu, members of Bashir Oloruntoyin Royal Family, the palace Chiefs, Women and Youth of Oworonshoki were treated to dulcet traditional songs and eulogies of Ijora Kingdom sang by the Ejiwa Elegba who were mainly youth.
