The much awaited All Progressives Congress (APC) membership registration and revalidation exercise finally took off nationwide yesterday, with Lagos East Senatorial District chieftain Otunba Busira Alebiosu flagging off the exercise in Kosofe Local Government Area while other notable chieftains of the party in the Local Government such as GAC member, Omooba Ademuyiwa Sosanya; Member House of Representatives, Prince Rotimi Agunsoye; former Member House of Representatives, Hon. Dayo Alebiosu; members Lagos State House Of Assembly Representing Kosofe Constituency 1 and 2 Hon. Sanni Okanlawon and Hon. Femi Saheed revalidating their Party membership in their respective polling units to pave way for general registration and revalidation across the local government.  

Speaking to newsmen at his polling unit after revalidating his membership of the party yesterday morning at Anthony, Otunba Busira Alebiosu, urged residents and party faithful to follow suit by registering or revalidating their membership of the party.

He stressed that the exercise is designed for everyone willing to be a bona fide member of the party, adding that on no account should anyone be discriminated against or prevented from registering.

So also Omoba Ademuyiwa Sosanya after validating his membership of the party in a polling unit at Soluyi area of the local government appealed to residents to shun political apathy occasioned by the policies of the government and prevailing economic downturn to register and join APC as the party attempts to build a solid economic foundation for the country before 2023.

He urged the people to take cognizance of the fact that the federal Government inherited a poor economy structure without solid foundation from PDP Government and that it is doing everything within its power to ameliorate it.

He noted that the ongoing exercise which would take two weeks to complete is for the betterment of the party as it attempts to shore up its membership in the state from three million to eight million ahead of the general elections in 2023.

A member of House of Representatives, representing Kosofe Federal Constituency, Hon. Prince Rotimi Agunsoye who revalidated his membership along with his wife in a polling unit at Magodo appealed to his constituents to join the winning party APC in order to enjoy the benefit of being bona fide members of the party.

He stressed that it is only when they belong to the Party that they would have opportunity to contribute meaningfully to its policies, vote in primary elections and take part in other assigned projects of the party.

Prince Agunsoye noted that the membership registration and revalidation exercise is the beginning of democratic process within the party which would ultimately culminate in national convention of the party.

He however took a swipe at some unscrupulous members of the party who tried to hijack the registration exercise at Ikosi-Isheri LCDA by substituting original lists of registration officials.

Similarly, former Member federal House of Representatives, Hon. Dayo Alebiosu who revalidated his membership of the party in a polling unit at Anthony expressed satisfaction with the exercise and therefore appealed to residents to go out and register, stressing that the exercise is an opportunity for them to participate in the democratic process and contribute to the policies of the party. 

The lawmaker representing Kosofe Constituency 1 in Lagos State House of Assembly Hon. Sanni Okanlawon revalidated his membership of the party yesterday also and appealed to residents to do the same by coming out in large numbers to register or revalidate their membership of the party.

He stated that going by the spate of infrastructural development in Lagos state, the exercise is a veritable opportunity for the people of the local government to join the party so as to consolidate and enjoy other benefits accruable. 

Hon. Okanlawon assured that the membership of the party is very much wide open to everybody and that no one would be discriminated against in the process of registration, adding that all necessary logistics had been put in place to ensure the success of the exercise.

He declared that APC would still remain in power after 2023 general elections and that the registration exercise is the beginning of the preparations to consolidate on its control of the country as a party.

While Hon. Femi Saheed, the lawmaker representing Kosofe Constituency 2 in Lagos State House of Assembly enjoined the people of the local government to go out en masse to register or revalidate their membership of the party, stressing that the exercise is of great significance to ascertain their level of commitment to the party and also for the party to know its strength so as to be able to prepare effectively for any political activity.

Hon. Saheed noted that the exercise had commenced on a good note and there had been no complaints from people about the registration process so far.
