ROTIMI AGUNSOYE KICK-STARTS ICT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME IN KOSOFE WITH FOUR ICT CENTRES AS GOV. SANWO-OLU COMMISSIONS PROJECTS.

House of Representatives member representing Kosofe federal constituency Hon. Prince Rotimi Agunsoye has kick-started a breath-taking ICT development programme in his constituency with the provision of 4 fully-equipped ICT centres in different locations in the area in line with federal Government Sustainable Development Goal 2030 with the Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu commissioning the four projects.

                           

The four ICT centres facilitated by the House of Representatives member were commissioned on Tuesday at trailblazing ceremonies as invited dignitaries party chieftains, Royal fathers, youth, women and Lagos State government representatives moved in convoy from one location to the others.

                              

The ICT centres commissioned by the Lagos State Governor on Tuesday are situated at Education District 2 Maryland, Ojota Senior High School, Ojota, Ayedere Ajibola Senior High School, Ketu and Agboyi Town.

 

In his address, Hon. Agunsoye expressed delight for being able to facilitate the projects to his constituency while noting that the ICT facilities would go a long way in keeping the youth of the constituency abreast of the latest development in technological advancement thereby extending the boundary of infinite possibilities for the ultimate realization of their potentialities.

                           

His words: “I am happy that we are today giving our youth in this school the opportunity to be at par in terms of exposure to ICT as obtained in private schools attended by their contemporaries. By this experience, the frontiers of possibilities are being expanded for our youths to realize their full potentials in this fast-paced digital era. It is hoped that having fulfilled our part of the development of Kosofe Federal Constituency deal, our efforts should be commended by allowing the dreams of our leaders across board manifest all over Kosofe and in the lives of our children.

                               

“From the above standpoint, I appreciate the importance of this event, we must realize also that in today’s world, knowledge of ICT remains key in the lives of our young ones. By putting this facility in place, I also intend to make available an enabling learning environment that will train even the trainers with the repertoire of knowledge required to make the most of these resources being commissioned today”.

 

The charismatic lawmaker fondly referred to as “The Promise Keeper”, averred that the provision of the fully-equipped ICT centres is part of efforts being made at realizing the Sustainable Development Goal 4 of quality education for Nigerians in 2030.

 

He, therefore, charged both students and teachers in the constituency to seize the opportunity and make proper use of the ICT facilities to broaden their knowledge in order not to be caught napping by the ever-changing swift technological advancement.   

 

“Dear students and teachers, 2030 is not so far away as you may think and you must be ICT-compliant to be able to meet up with the high level of sophistication it is certain to bring. As we journey into the not-too-distant future from our present horizon, please do well to make use of the vehicle taking you to our future destination. 2030 and beyond is just around the corner and the future starts now”, he said.

                   

The House Committee Chairman on Sustainable Development Goal(SDG) concluded by appealing to Lagos state Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu to assist in providing support in the area of maintenance, upgrade and smooth running of the Centre.

 

                            

The Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu in his Keynote address lauded Prince Rotimi Agunsoye for his great work ethics and for his commitment to providing impactful and quality representation to the people of Kosofe Federal Constituency.

 

He remarked that the House of representatives Committee chairman on Sustainable Development Goal has performed excellently well by facilitating laudable projects such as ICT centres and other projects to his constituency.  

 

The Governor who was represented by Tutor General and Permanent Secretary of Education District 2 Mrs. Anike Adekanye affirmed that the state government place a great premium on ICT development in the state in line with the THEME agenda on the education of the administration.

                         

He therefore assured that his administration would continue to work in tandem with Lagos state representatives at the National Assembly for the overall development and growth of the state.  

 

The member of Lagos State house of Assembly representing Kosofe Constituency 1, Hon. Sanni Okanlawon who was present at the commissioning of the ICT centre Education District 2 Maryland, in his address, commended Prince Rotimi Agunsoye for facilitating the provision of ICT centres in Kosofe Federal Constituency, stating that it was a great value addition to governance as well as to the teeming youth of Kosofe federal constituency.

                                       

The House committee chairman on education stated that the ICT centres would afford the public schools students and pupils in the constituency the opportunity of learning computer science from a very young age and bring them on the same pedestal with their counterparts in private schools.

 

While describing Hon. Agunsoye as a trailblazer and a responsive leader, he urged him to continue in good stead by bringing more dividends of democracy to the people of the constituency.

 

  

The Chairman of SUBEB, Hon. Wahab Alawiye King in his own address said the provision of the ICT centre is in line with Governor Babajide Sanwoo-Olu THEME Agenda on education and technology and also inconsonant with the federal government’s sustainable development goal no 4 which deals with education.

                       

He therefore commended prince Rotimi Agunsoye for facilitating the construction of the ICT centre in education district II Maryland, stating that it would go a long way in improving the quality of education and positively engaging the young ones.

 

He stated further that the provision of the ICT centre is a powerful testament of the impactful and quality representation Prince Agunsoye has been giving his constituency at the lower chamber over the years.

 

The last pot of call for the commissioning of ICT centre on Tuesday was at the riverine ancient town of Agboyi where the King of the town Olu of Agboyiland, Oba Monsuru Abimbola Oladega gave Hon. Prince Rotimi Agunsoye and the dignitaries a rapturous royal reception with town’s masquerades entertaining the august visitors.

                    

The Olu of Agboyiland in his speech expressed great delight at the visitation of Hon. Agunsoye to the ancient community for the ICT commissioning, describing it as historic as the town had only witness analogous occasion 20 years ago.

 

While commending Prince Agunsoye for siting the facilitated ICT centre in the community, he noted that the facility is capable of producing the likes of Mark Zuckerberg as it would positively engage the youth of the community and harness their potentials.

 

He therefore urged the people of the community and other relevant government agency to ensure good maintenance of the facility.

 

Earlier, the executive chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Mayor Dele Osinowo in his welcome address commended Prince Agunsoye for his impactful representation and facilitation of ICT centre to Agboyi Town while noting that the core responsibility of a  lawmaker is to make laws.

                        

He stated that the ICT facility would create a multiplier effect in terms of creating employment, skill acquisition as well as attracting meaningful infrastructural development to the area.

 

The commissioning of the four ICT centres on Tuesday was part of mid-term projects facilitated by the former Lagos State Commissioner for Local government and chieftaincy affairs.
