The distinguished Lawmaker representing Kosofe Federal Constituency, Hon. Prince Rotimi Agunsoye has stated that there was no investment that could be greater than engaging the youth of his Constituency to become what the crave for in life, stressing that engaging the youth in meaningful endeavours engender productivity and development as well as peace and tranquillity in the communities.
Hon. Rotimi Agunsoye made the assertion on Wednesday during the last day of ICT training empowerment programme he facilitated for the youth and women of Kosofe Federal Constituency where 70 brand new Lenovo GI5 IGL Laptops were presented to the trained ICT participants.
Speaking before a large gathering consisting of ICT participants, residents and party members at the ornate banquet hall of Galaxy event centre Ojota, Hon. Agunsoye noted that a greater Nigeria could only be realised if each and every one adequately play his or her role in the development of the nation.
He, therefore, expressed delight at the consistent and steady progress he has made in the constituency over time in the area of human capacity development and also with the successful training and empowerment of another batch of 70 ICT participants.
He said: “The country you and I desire is only made so when and if we all play our part in the business of nation building. Sometimes, being a stakeholder in building a strong nation is as simple as being a productive member of the society.
“It is indeed true that “the future of the world belongs to the youth of the world” but today I ask you, what role are you playing in ensuring that the world is a better place because of you?
“Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, there is no greater investment than engaging the youths of our constituency to become the future we all desire. An engaged youth does not only bring about productivity and development but also ensures peace in communities and families.
“Today, I am filled with happiness as we effect change slowly but assuredly within our constituency, I am especially proud of the 70 beneficiaries of this present class of ICT program and I applaud their tenacity and commitment to rewriting their own stories.”
The Chairman House Committee on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) who had organised series of ICT programmes for the constituents told the gathering that the regular investment on ICT programmes are designed to “create a supportive ICT based Training for participants with promising profile to become more employable and competitive, promote integration of ICT into their formal and non-formal day –to – day experience and to strengthen and improve their human capacity development”.
He charged the beneficiaries of the ICT programme to make proper use of the empowerment tools and ICT skills acquired to turn around their fortune and transform their lives positively and become noteworthy in the constituency.
The executive chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe, who graced the event, commended Prince Rotimi Agunsoye for facilitating the ICT programme and empowering the youth and women of the constituency.
He appealed to the participants to make judicious use of the acquired ICT skills and digital tools, noting that they could become great and wealthy in life with them.
He said: “This is an opportunity for you people, make use of it very well. I am sure you know how much it cost. You can make so much money out it, you can start a business with it. Make sure you use them for what are necessary, things that can make progress to your lives. These can make you become a billionaire in the right way”.
The representatives of National Human Rights Commission and Federal Ministries of Special Duties, Mrs. Larai Ibe and Mr. Ojajuni respectively were present to observe the ICT programme.
Mrs. Ibe in her address while appreciating the friendly working relationship between the commissions and Hon. Agunsoye, eulogised the lawmaker for positively engaging the youth and women of the constituency in practical endeavour.
While Mr. Ojajuni praised Hon. Agunsoye for his commitment to the human capacity development of his constituents and also congratulated the participants of the ICT training programme.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of brand new Lenovo G15 IGL Laptops to each of the 70 ICT participants.
The vote of thanks was given on behalf of the beneficiaries of ICT programme by Mr. Adebisi Adebiyi who thanked Hon. Rotimi Agunsoye for his laudable humanitarian service, noting that the good gestures would go a long way in creating wealth and employments.
The event was graced by Prince Fatai Gbadebo, the former Chief of Staff to the chairman Kosofe Local Government; Hon. Yinka Ogunleye, the Vice Chairman Ikosi-Isheri LCDA and Hon. Sade Akinpelu.
