MOYO OGUNLEWE, ACCESS BANK COMMISSION HEALTH FACILITY AT OWORONSHOKI
The Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe on Wednesday commissioned a state-of-the-Art Primary Health Care Centre at Oworonshoki.
The commissioning of the Primary Health Centre came a day after a customary court and water fountain was commissioned by the council Chairman.
The Primary Health Centre was constructed in conjunction with the Access Bank plc and it is located in Olojojo area of Oworonshoki community.
In a chat with the newsmen, Barrister Ogunlewe expressed profound gratitude to the Access Bank Management for collaborating with Kosofe Local Government in constructing the health centre.
He explained that the local government went into partnership with the Bank by providing a piece of land through the paramount traditional ruler of Oworonshoki Kingdom.
He, therefore, made a passionate appeal to the people of Oworonshoki to ensure good maintainance of the facility, adding that he would get in touch with the Lagos State Ministry of Health to fashion out how the centre would be properly managed for the good people of Oworonshoki.
Also speaking at the event, the All Progressives Congress House of Representative Candidate in Kosofe Federal Constituency, Alhaja Kafilat Ogbara expressed delight with the construction of the health facility.
While thanking Access Bank for partnering with Kosofe Local Government, she urged other corporate organizations to take a cue from Access Bank, noting that government alone cannot do it.
Mr. Taiwo Fowowe, the Chief Financial officer of Access Bank explained that the bank placed high premium on its Corporate Social responsibility policy and that the health sector was the area they chose in fulfilling the policy.
"This year, for our financial control, strategy and enterprise business support, we chose Kosofe Local government, specifically, Oworo for their population and number of lives to be impacted in term of health care delivery. We partner with the council and Oba Oloworo to build this facility", he said.
While assuring that the Bank will ensure proper maintainance of the bank, he disclosed that it might decide to establish a branch in the community due to its huge population.
The paramount ruler of Oworonshoki kingdom, Oba Babatunde Saliu, the Elebo ll, was also present at the commissioning. of the health facility.
He expressed delight at the high standard of the facility, noting that the people of the community do not need to go to general hospital for treatment of minor ailments.
"I want to thank the management of Access Bank for deeming it fit here in Oworo by giving us this edifice which will improve the lives of our people. They don't need to run to the General Hospital at Gbagada for treatment of minor injuries, malaria and deliveries.
"We've gone around the facility to see the equipment and other medical tools; in fact, it is more of a hospital than just a Health Centre.
" We thank them very well for the great opportunity given to us in our community and we pray that they will continue to grow from strength to strength in Jesus name": Oba Babatunde Saliu said.
