THE TRUTH BEHIND HON. SANNI OKANLAWON’S FLATULENT OUTBURST AGAINST REP ROTIMI AGUNSOYE, HON MUSILIU AIGORO AND THE MISAPPROPRIATION OF ELECTION MOBILIZATION FUNDS BY KOSOFE GAC MEMBERS

 By Olusegun Apena

My attention has been drawn to a video clip making the rounds on social media wherein the Lawmaker representing Kosofe Constituency 1 at the Lagos state House of Assembly and the Candidate of the All Progressives Congress on March 11 Lagos State House of Assembly Election, Hon. Sanni Okanlawon calumniates the Member House of Representatives Kosofe Federal Constituency, Hon. Prince Rotimi Agunsoye and the commissioner of Lagos State Audit Service Commission, Alhaji Musiliu Aigoro of being SDP members and that they also worked for the victory of Labour Party at the just concluded Presidential elections.

The calumniation was made at an exigent stakeholders’ meeting of APC held in Kosofe Local Government Secretariat on Saturday March 4, 2023 following the very woeful results recorded by the Local Government at the Presidential election.

Addressing the gathering in Yoruba, Hon. Okanlawon popularly known as “Okla” said nervously: “Ikan ninu won to ko egbe jo ti won pe ni TSG, SDP ni won ooo.  ROT ati Aigoro Isekise ni won se o; won ko sise egbe wa. Labour ni won dibo fun”. Which means “one of them who is the convener of TSG is SDP. ROT ati Aigoro did a dirty job, they did not work for our party, they voted for Labour Party”.

The above drooling statement of the lawmaker smacks of histrionics analogous to that of a pupil who comes last in an examination goes home with woeful results and tells his parents his class teacher fails him because he hates his gut. It is also synonymous with a blatant flimsy ridiculous statement of a frivolous chap attributing his misfortune to the witchcraft of his father’s wife.

It is however pertinent to note that Okla while making his drool at the gathering, cuts a very piteous sight of a confused figure completely denuded of confidence and verve. His body while uttering the statement trembles with trepidation while his voice quiver nervously. Deductively, the unguarded statement of the lawmaker was born out of frustration and a palpable fear of the looming impending political cataclysm that is about to befall him in the coming days. And only a moronic, gullible simpleton would take in the rebarbative masturbatory utterance of the Lagos state House of Assembly member hook line and sinker

Aftermath the presidential election wherein Kosofe Local Government recorded the most appalling results of all the Local Governments in Lagos State, many reasons were adduced for the fiasco. While some were reasonable, others flew in the face of clear reasoning. And the statement made by the lawmaker at the well-attended stakeholders’ meeting on March 4 is one of those that went off on a tangent. It is apocryphal, illogic, senseless, disgusting, puerile and inconsequential in its totality. It was a show of shame by the Lawmaker rather than a show of bravado.

It is also a calculated desperate attempt on the part of the lawmaker to cover up for the non-utilization or misappropriation of mobilization funds which were given to him, the GAC leaders, the Local Government Chairmen, the councillors, the supervisors, and the LGA party Chairmen.

It is important to note that the reason Kosofe Local Government performed woefully at the presidential election on February 25 is not that the Ibo came out en masse to vote for their own. That was expected. It is basically due to the inability and failure of a group of avaricious and insensitive people saddled with the responsibility of mobilizing a greater number of Yoruba with the huge amount of resources given to them.

They got the necessary logistics needed for unhindered mobilization of the electorate two or a day before the election but chose not to utilize or disburse it to the appropriate quarter. They sat on the funds thinking it was going to be business as usual. Alas, they were wrong!

For the records, many people are aware that the local government chairmen, the LGA party Chairmen, the councillors and the supervisors were mobilized with a certain amount of money ranging from $10000, $5000, $3000 to $2500 but are not aware that a Fifty Million Naira ( 50,000,000) earmarked for polling units in the three local Councils (Kosofe, Agboyi-Ketu and Ikosi-Isheri) based on N100,000 per polling unit were hijacked from the council Chairmen by the GAC leaders in the local government. The money was not disbursed to the polling unit as planned. And there were no Canvassers in all the polling units.

The 50,000,000 naira was hijacked by the GAC leaders after they had gotten their mobilization funds of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10000) from the state government. Hon. Okanlawon should rather explain to us why the GAC leaders sat on the mobilization funds for the election? And what happened to the 15 per polling unit canvassers?

It is an open knowledge that there was no canvasser in all the polling units. And in some polling units, there was no agent of APC. Whereas a huge amount of money was allocated for that purpose. And as at the time of writing this article, no party agents have been paid for the work done on February 25th.

Similarly, Hon. Okanlawon was equally given not less than $10,000 by the state government for mobilization. Instead of using the money to canvass votes for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he pocketed it. He planned to use the money to fund his election this Saturday. Okla from the information I gathered did not mobilize a single person. Consequently, he was badly concussed and pummeled in Anthony/Mende and in three places connected to him.

In a polling booth located in front of his father’s house, APC garnered 55 votes while the Labour party had 80 votes. At the polling unit located in front of his constituency office, APC had 34 while Labour Party had 136 votes. At his Arowojobe residence, APC had 57 while the Labour party had 190 votes.

This is by all standards appalling results by the candidate of the party for the Lagos State House of Assembly. This is highly regrettable and the resort to a diatribe against the well-meaning people who had laboured tirelessly is understandable within the context of his mauling.

If one may ask at this point, to borrow Okla’s word, who did the “Isekise” (dirty job) or sabotaged the effort of the party in the Local Government in the presidential election between Hon. Rotimi Agunsoye/ Hon. Musiliu Aigoro and the group of people that failed to utilize election mobilization funds of which Hon. Sanni Okanlawon is among? Obviously, it cannot be Rep Rotimi Agunsoye and Alhaji Musiliu Aigoro. These are honourable, loyal and progressive-minded personalities who have worked assiduously for the party and invested their prodigious energy, time and resources towards the actualization of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presidency and the other candidates of the party.

While Rep Rotimi Agunsoye was the assistant secretary of the Directorate of SDG of PCC and had assisted a couple of support groups in cash and kind apart from Kosofe TSG he bankrolled, Alhaji Aigoro was a Director in Tinubu-Shettima/ Sanwo-Olu- Hamzat ICC. He was also the director of special duties of Tokunbo Abiru Campaign Team.

These two men are die-hard Asiwaju Tinubu Loyalists and couldn’t have voted for or commandeered their teaming supporters to vote for the Labour party or Peter Obi. This is nothing but the figment of the imagination of a drowning candidate who is already in hallucinatory mode a few days to the day of reckoning.

At this juncture, I would like to make this passionate appeal to His Excellency Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the March 11 governorship election draws near. Please Mr. Governor don’t put your faith and trust in this group of political spent force who can neither mobilize the youth nor do they enjoy the goodwill of the masses. They only care about their pockets.

The only feasible solution at this critical moment is to engage well-meaning people in Kosofe Local Government who could interact with and change the mindset of the angry youths. On our part, we will continue to work assiduously for your reelection. And God’s willing victory will be yours on Saturday.
