2024 Budget: Ogunlewe To Prioritize Health Care, Education, Infrastructure

The Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe has disclosed that key sectors such as Health, Education and Infrastructure development would be given top priority in the preparation of the year 2024 budget In the bid of his administration to sustain the tempo of infrastructure development and quality service delivery. 

The council boss while addressing the executive members, management, revenue officers and other important political appointees of the Local Government at a two-day budget retreat held at Novotel Hotel, Lekki last week.
Barrister Ogunlewe, while appraising the performance of the year 2023 budget, expressed delight at the gains and success recorded by his administration in the outgoing year and called for a concerted effort towards the preparation and execution of the people-centric 2024 budget.

He assured that all valuable inputs made at the budget retreat would be seriously considered and factored into the year 2024 budget.

He added that sectors such as Health Care Services, Education, and Works and infrastructure, among others, would occupy the front burner, assuring of his determination to implement productive ideas and policies that would positively impact the people of the local government.
He said: “In order to ensure quality service delivery, continuous infrastructure development, and equitable distribution of dividends of democracy to the residents in all sectors of governance, we must be accountable in our estimate and also make sure that our estimates are in line with these sectors for us to achieve a better revenue from last year’s income.

 "It is important for every contribution made at this retreat to be implemented and passed into law to achieve utmost results for the benefit of the entire constituents.

“Kosofe must be one of the leading Local Governments in Lagos State, in the area of quality service delivery with the modalities being put in place for the preparation and execution of the year 2024 budget estimates”.
  
He, therefore, charged the Council's officials to work diligently towards achieving a realistic and sustainable budget estimate for the 2024 fiscal year.

Barrister Ogunlewe gave thanks to Almighty God for the Council's modest achievements in the year under review as attested to by the people through their positive feedback, promising other purposeful and people-centred projects in the coming year.

The Head of Administration, Mr. Ola Olanrewaju buttressed the importance of a robust and realistic Year 2024 Budget to the overall development of Kosofe Local Government and the well-being of its people.

The facilitator of the retreat, Mr. Adeniyi Adeleke commended the Executive Chairman for the quality and adequate service delivery.

He further charged all technocrats in the LGA to display efficiency, professionalism and transparency, and also ensure clear accountability as service providers.

The Head of the Department of Budget Planning and Statistics, Mrs. Adesina A.O. thanked all the participants for their positive contributions towards the preparation of the Year 2024 budget estimate at the retreat.

The Vice Chairman; Hon. Oluwole Sosanya led the Executive members which included the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Fatai Gbadebo; Chief of Staff; Mr.Akinyemi Abiona, Council Treasurer, Mr. Ojikutu; HOD Budget, Mrs. Adesina A.O; executive members, SSA's, CDA chairman and SSA on Community affairs, management and some members of the Council.

The two-day budget retreat with the theme, "Budget of Public Growth and Development" was aimed at reviewing the fiscal achievements of the current year and projects for the future.

The deliberation was a purposeful round table discussion aimed at achieving a greater Kosofe Local Government and opening up the frontiers of infrastructure development with the provision of essential services.
