AIGORO REVALIDATES APC MEMBERSHIP

A chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kosofe Local Government Area and the Local Government Chairmanship prospect, Hon. Musiliu Aigoro has joined the rest of the party’s chieftains across Lagos State and beyond to revalidate his membership of the party.
Speaking to newsmen after his APC membership revalidation yesterday, Hon. Aigoro described the ongoing revalidation exercise as a welcome development and a step in the right direction, stating that it would enable the party to assess its political strength in order for it to be able to plan and strategize effectively ahead of 2023 general elections.

He expressed profound belief that if the excellent performance of APC Government in Lagos State is anything to go by, the party would still remain the dominant party to reckon with in Lagos and Nigeria.
“Even in any nation-state they carry out population census. That is to know the number of people in various category. And it is only when you have this information that the country would be able to plan.

“Bringing it down to the registration of members of our party, it is good thing in the right direction. It would afford us to know the number of people that are duly in support of our party.
 
“But that is not to say that at the time of election we are not going to have more than what we have recorded in terms of membership of our party because we have some other people who are apolitical. They don’t want to belong to any party, yet they have sympathy for some political parties.

“I can assure you that with what we have witnessed overtime in Lagos State, you will agree with me that APC is the party to beat in Lagos State and in Nigeria”: he said 

Hon. Aigoro also expressed delight at the response of people to the exercise, remarking that people’s turn-out was very impressive and that the impressive turn-out is a strong indication that the party is still very popular.  


He particularly commended the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for endearing the party with the people in the state with his superlative performance, declaring that the Governor now deserves to be addressed as His ‘Excellency.’

And as Kosofe Local Government chairmanship election is billed to hold later this year, Hon. AIgoro while noting that the Local Government is cosmopolitan and peculiar in nature, averred that peace among its people is what is needed to take it to the enviable height it deserves.

He therefore appealed to his teeming supporters to remain calm, peaceful and orderly.

In a related development, the supervisor for Agriculture, Rural, Youth and Sports in Kosofe Local Government Hon. Oyeyemi Oyetayo, popularly Known as ‘Atiku’ and former Lagos state House of Assembly aspirant, Hon. Funsho Oduntan popularly known as ‘Toronto’ have also revalidated their party membership in their respective polling unit.

Hon. Oyetayo in an interview, appealed to people who are yet to register or update their membership to go and do so while at the same time expressing satisfaction with the high turn-out of people.

He however advised that publicity banners or signs should be placed in front of the polling units where the exercise is taking place to make it easier for people to identify.

  Similarly, Hon. Funsho Oduntan while lauding the ongoing registration exercise, urged the residents of Kosofe local government to seize the opportunity by coming out en-masse to register and become members of APC.

He stressed that the membership registration and revalidation exercise is a great opportunity for them to show the level of their commitment and loyalty to the party.

APC Adjusts Primary Elections Timetable Again, Shifts Special Congresses To May 16-17

  The All Progressives Congress (APC) has once again proposed an adjustment of its Timetable for participation in the 2023 General elections and has moved its Special Congresses for Delegates to May 16 and 17. Special Congresses were originally scheduled to hold from Thursday, May 12, until the Party, which is currently racing against time, took the decision to change the date and allow time for critical announcements and orientation of committee members before the Congresses. This will be the third time the ruling party will be presenting timetable for its crucial primary elections after its National Convention of March 26, 2022.   The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recently warned political parties to ensure they meet its own deadline for primary election.
