"N2.733bn Monthly, Yet Nothing to Show”: Igando/Ikotun Youths Call Out Council Chairman

Image
Youths in Igando/Ikotun LCDA have accused the leadership of their local council of failing to deliver development projects that match the council’s federal allocation, despite the area reportedly receiving N2.733 billion monthly. In an official statement released Saturday, the group, under the name Igando/Ikotun Concern Youths, said they were “compelled to express our deep disappointment and frustration with the current state of governance in Igando/Ikotun LCDA.” The group noted that Alimosho LGA gets N2.733 billion monthly from the Federation Account, and argued that with six LCDAs under it, each—including Igando/Ikotun—should be entitled to about N455 million monthly. This, they said, is aside from internally generated revenue within Igando/Ikotun. “Regrettably, our community continues to suffer from deplorable roads, inadequate electricity, substandard education, and a lack of essential services,” the statement read. The youths contrasted their situation with other counc...

A committed stakeholder within the All Progressives Congress, Odunsi has aligned her work with national development, economic inclusion, and grassroots empowerment. Her approach to leadership rests on a principle she repeats across forums: governance must go beyond rhetoric to deliver measurable impact in the daily lives of citizens.   Her case as a contender is built on practical initiatives and structured interventions. THE QUIET SURGE: REMI ODUNSI JOINS KOSOFE REPS RACE AS DARK HORSE ~Second-time aspirant banks on skills, enterprise, and grassroots to challenge Ogbara, Osinowo for APC ticket

Image
By Olusegun Apena  In the unfolding contest for the All Progressives Congress ticket in Kosofe Federal Constituency, a familiar name is re-entering the field with a different kind of momentum.   Mrs. Oluremi Oluwalogbon Odunsi, nation-building entrepreneur and venture builder, has declared her aspiration for the House of Representatives, Kosofe Federal Constituency, ahead of the 2027 general elections.   She comes into the race as an underdog. Party watchers say she may yet be the dark horse to steal the show.   Odunsi will square up against incumbent Hon. Kafilat Ogbara and former Agboyi-Ketu LCDA chairman Mayor Dele Osinowo in the APC primary. Both are formidable: Ogbara holds the seat and federal committee leverage; Osinowo commands a ward-level machine built over eight years in office.   Yet Odunsi’s aspiration is gradually gaining grassroots support across Kosofe, Ikosi-Isheri, and Agboyi-Ketu. In politics, never say never. H...

STAKEHOLDER FAULTS THIRD-TERM PUSH FOR MILE 12 MARKET LEADER SAMPAM~Mujaheed Salam Alleges Plot to Amend Constitution, Warns of Legal Resistance

Image
By Olusegun Apena   A stakeholder in the Mile 12 International Market, Mujaheed Salam, has condemned what he described as “growing calls” for the market leader, Shehu Jubril Usman, popularly known as SAMPAM, to seek a third term in office as his current tenure winds down.   In a post on his Facebook page titled _No Smoke Without Fire_, Salam argued that the move violates the market’s existing constitution and warned that any attempt to impose a third term would be “vigorously and legally resisted by all legitimate stakeholders.”   “It is troubling that the market continues to be governed by a questionable ‘kangaroo’ constitution that itself requires thorough scrutiny by legal experts,” Salam wrote. “Even under the existing constitution, the stipulated term limit is two tenures of five years each. The sudden push to amend this constitution to accommodate one individual raises serious red flags.”   Salam alleged that the proposed ...

Femi Saheed, lawmaker representing Kosofe Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, have pushed back against a recent news piece questioning whether the “quiet lawmaker” has done enough to earn a another term, citing his free student transport scheme, infrastructure projects, and legislative record.   The responses followed a story by Kosofe Reporters titled: “Femi Saheed Question: Has the Quiet Lawmaker Done Enough to Earn Another Term?”_ which referenced a stadium project and three roads as his major achievements.   “He Is Not a Noise Maker”   One supporter, writing anonymously, said Saheed “is not a noise maker” and pointed to a transport initiative running for over five years. “He has been given free ride to primary and secondary students from Ajegunle, Mile 12 to Maryland and you know what it takes to do that,” the supporter wrote, urging verification.   Modinat Emdee, who ide...

Image
By Olusegun Apena  Lagos — Mayor Dele Osinowo, former Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area, has formally declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives, Kosofe Federal Constituency, setting up a three-way contest with incumbent Hon. Kafilat Ogbara and aspirant Remi Odunsi.   In a declaration statement on Tuesday, Osinowo anchored his bid on his record at the grassroots, promising to take what he called a “best-in-class” local government performance to federal legislative representation.   “TO GOD BE THE GLORY, MAYOR DECLARES FOR HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, KOSOFE FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY,” the statement began. “What we built at the grassroots will forever stand as a benchmark. We didn’t just make promises, we did the work. And that work was seen, felt, transformed lives and hopes were renewed across Agboyi-Ketu and Greater Kosofe.”   Osinowo said his administration in Agboyi-Ketu “changed the narrative” and “...

"I FACILITATED YOUTH JOBS WITHOUT SOCIAL MEDIA NOISE" — MUSILIU AIGORO ~PLEDGES OPEN-DOOR LEGISLATURE IN KOSOFE CONSTITUENCY 1 BID*

Image
By Olusegun Apena  After three unsuccessful runs for Kosofe Local Government chairmanship, Hon. Musiliu Aigoro is now eyeing the Lagos State House of Assembly, Kosofe Constituency I, pitching his aspiration on administrative experience, party loyalty, and a record of quietly placing many youth from his community into state jobs during his time as Commissioner in the Lagos State Audit Service Commission. Aigoro who holds a bachelor's degree in Political Science, in an interview with Kosofe Reporters, made it known that he is well primed to represent the people of Kosofe constituency 1 with progressive ideas and great commitment, adding that he has been a progressive and part of the progressive party from the start, contesting the Kosofe chairmanship three times on its platform with each bid ending through party consensus.  “APC in Lagos State as you all know is a progressive-thinking party… where two or more people are jostling for a particular office… the leadershi...

WHITHER MAYOR DELE OSINOWO? HOUSE OF REPS OR HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY?

Image
By Olusegun Apena Mayor Dele Osinowo, the award-winning former chairman of Agboyi/Ketu LCDA, who left office in 2025 with a reputation as a “project chairman,” is reportedly weighing his next political move. The question on the lips of Kosofe APC stakeholders and political watchers is whether he will vie for the House of Representatives or settle for the House of Assembly? Two whispers are making the rounds. One says Osinowo has decided to challenge Hon. Kafilat Ogbara, the incumbent representing Kosofe Federal Constituency in Abuja. The other says he has changed his mind and will instead target Kosofe Constituency II in the Lagos House of Assembly, currently occupied by Hon. Femi Saheed. Both options are politically logical. Both are also politically risky — but in very different ways. The House of Reps Option: Ogbara as the Hard Nut If Osinowo chooses the federal ticket, he walks into the most difficult primary in Kosofe. Hon. Kafilat Ogbara is not a weak incumbent. She i...

KOSOFE CONSTITUENCY II: THE FEMI SAHEED QUESTION — Has the Quiet Lawmaker Done Enough To Earn Another Term?

Image
By Olusegun Apena Unlike the fireworks in Constituency I, where Hon. Sanni Okanlawon is fighting off seven aspirants and an anti-third-term revolt, the political affairs in Kosofe Constituency II are more measured, more whispered. The question, however, is the same: has the incumbent done enough? Hon. Femi Saheed, the lawmaker representing Ikosi-Isheri, Agboyi-Ketu and environs, assumed office in 2020 after winning a bye-election to replace the late Hon. Tunde Buraimoh. Now serving his first full term, he is a ranking member of the House and currently chairs the powerful House Committee on Finance. Yet he has kept a low profile. As the APC primary approaches, the constituency is asking - quietly but firmly - whether that quietness is competence or invisibility.  Femi Saheed’s Scorecard Saheed is not a headline-hugging politician. He does not dominate WhatsApp groups, except when he moved the motion for the impeachment of Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa on the floor of the Hous...

Moyo Ogunlewe Felicitates Christians in Kosofe, Urges Residents to Embrace Easter Spirit of Love

Image
The Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government Area, Barr. Moyosore Adedoyin Ogunlewe, has felicitated Christians in the council area on the occasion of Easter, describing it as a season of renewed faith and hope. In his Easter message on Sunday, Ogunlewe said the resurrection of Jesus Christ symbolises “the ultimate triumph of life over death, hope over despair, and light over darkness,” noting that the message remains relevant to all humanity. He urged residents to extend the spirit of Easter beyond religious gatherings into their daily lives through acts of kindness, reconciliation and genuine love for one another. “As we celebrate this season of renewed faith and boundless joy, I encourage every resident of Kosofe to carry the spirit of Easter beyond the church walls - into our homes, our streets, and our communities,” the chairman said. Ogunlewe reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a Kosofe “where every resident truly thrives,” and wished families ...

Owokoniran Campaign Team Dismisses Smear Campaign, Clarifies Family Ties

Image
The campaign organisation of Babatunde Shuaib Owokoniran (BSO), aspirant for Kosofe Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, has dismissed what it described as a “malicious smear campaign” by political opponents over his family background. In a press statement signed by the BSO Campaign Media and made available to Kosofe Reporters on Saturday, the group accused detractors of resorting to “personal, childish attacks” by questioning the parentage of the aspirant in a bid to distract from their lack of vision. “It has come to our attention that political opponents, in a desperate attempt to distract from their lack of a vision, have resorted to spreading malicious falsehoods regarding our symbol parentage,” the statement read. The campaign clarified that while former Lagos lawmaker and ex-commissioner, Rahman Owokoniran, is not the biological father of Babatunde Shuaib Owokoniran, he remains “one of the father figures who shaped Babatunde Shuaib Owokoniran into the...

LAHA 2027: THE BATTLE FOR KOSOFE CONSTITUENCY 1 — Can Sanni Okanlawon (Okla) Survive the Anti-Third-Term Storm?

Image
By Olusegun Apena  The two-term lawmaker representing Kosofe Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly is seeking a third term. On paper, he has the advantage of incumbency, name recognition, and a network built over eight years. On the streets and WhatsApp groups across Kosofe Constituency 1, however, a different narrative is gaining traction: he has had his turn. The question now reverberating across the constituency is simple: will Sanni Okanlawon, fondly called Okla by admirers, be third time lucky?  Experience vs Entitlement Okanlawon’s political résumé is solid. A former Secretary to Kosofe Local Government (SLG) and former Special Adviser on Food Security to the Lagos State Government, he burst onto the legislative scene in 2019 with a landslide victory over Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe, now Kosofe LG Chairman. In 2023, he survived a scare, scraping through against a Labour Party candidate and SDP’s Hon. Lanre Carew in a tighter contest that exposed...

LAHA2027: Benson Adepoju Joins Lagos Assembly Race, Says He Is The Best Man For The Job

Image
Lagos House of Assembly hopeful for Kosofe Constituency 1, Hon. Benson Bowale Adepoju fondly known as "Aworo", says his long years in party structure and grassroots politics have prepared him to deliver effective representation if elected as a member of the Lagos House of Assembly, Kosofe Constituency 1. Speaking in an interview with Kosofe Reporters, the former councillor traced his political journey to the Alliance for Democracy (AD) era. "I've been in the party structure right from the days of Alliance for Democracy (AD). I was Ward Assistant Secretary under the late Tasiri Yahaya, the ward chairman then," he said. "After that, I had the opportunity, with the help of the special grace of God and the support of leaders to also move from ward to LGA officer. First as Treasurer and now as welfare officer." Adepoju recalled serving as one of the pioneer councillors in 2004 under the 57 LG/LCDA arrangement created by President Bola Ahmed Tinu...
