INVESTIGATIVE COMMITTEE DECLARES IKOSI-ISHERI LEADER OF THE HOUSE, DEPUTY SUPENSION ILLEGAL

By Olusegun Apena

The Lagos State House of Assembly’s Investigative committee set up by the speaker of the house Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa to investigate the legislative crisis in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA and allegations of embezzlement, corruption, misappropriation and harassment level against the chairperson of the council, Princess Samiat Bada has concluded its assignment yesterday and immediately declared the purported suspension of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA leader of the house and his deputy as illegal.

While the outcomes of the investigation of the committee on allegations levelled against the council chairperson are still being eagerly awaited by members of the public, the investigative committee at the end of his sitting yesterday declared the purported suspension of the Leader of the house Hon. Akanni Usman Ajibola and the Deputy Leader of the House Hon. Folasade Akinpelu by four other councillors as null and void.

Kosofe Reporters gathered that the committee declared the action of the four councillors as illegal as they did not form a quorum to take such punitive action and that the majority leader of the house, Yinusa Salami did not possess the power to summon plenary meeting.

Kosofe Reporters also gathered that the investigative committee also declared action of the Leader of the House Hon. Akanni Usman in writing a letter to the Polaris bank to suspend transaction with the council management over two hidden accounts as illegal.

The committee according to our source said Hon. Usman Ajibola does not have the power to write such letter suspending transaction with Polaris bank.

With this decision the duo of Hon. Akanni Usman Ajibola and Hon. Folasade Akinpelu still remain the de jure House Leader and Deputy House Leader respectively.
