YOU ARE A JINX BREAKER AND A PROGRESSIVE-MINDED MONARCH - AGBOYI PRINCE, KEHINDE LADEGA, TELLS OBA OLOWORO
*Says the Aworis are marginalized in the political scheme of things in Agboyi/Ketu
The Oloworo of Oworonshoki Kingdom Oba Babatunde Saliu has been described as a jinx breaker and a progressive-minded monarch due to his exploit in the political terrain and his vision for Oworonshoki Kingdom.
A Prince of Agboyi Kingdom and a renowned Master of Ceremony, Kehinde Oladega made the remark last week Thursday during the visit of Awori Monarchs to the palace of Oloworo of Oworonshoki Kingdom.
Prince Ladega while introducing the quartet of Olofin Adimula of Isheri Kingdom, Oba Sulaimon Adekunle Bamgbade, Olu of Agboyi Kingdom, Oba Monsuru Abimbola Oladega; Alaketu of Ketu, Oba Isiaka Oyero and Olojudu of Ojudu, Oba Sobowale Benson noted that Oba Babatunde Saliu was the first indigene of Kosofe Local Government to be elected as Vice-Chairman of Kosofe Local Government.
He added that the marginalization of the Aworis at the grassroots level was even worse in Agboyi/Ketu LCDA to the extent that no Awori was deemed good enough to be appointed as a Supervisor not to talk of the Secretary to the Local Government, Vice-Chairman or Chairman.
"Kabiyesi you broke the record. You are the first indigene of Kosofe local government to become a Vice-Chairman. You broke that jinx.
"In Agboyi/Ketu it is even worse. No Awori has ever been made either a chairman, Vice-Chairman, SLG or Supervisor": he remarked.
He, however, praised the present crop of Awori Monarchs led by Olofin Adimula of Isheri Kingdom, stating that they are progressive-minded going by the landmark infrastructural Development and industries in their area of jurisdictions.
While stating that the purpose of the visit of four Awori Monarchs to the palace of the Oloworo was to strengthen the bond of Kinship among the Aworis, he revealed that the four Awori Monarchs and the Oloworo are descendants of Olofin Ogunfunminire, the progenitor of the Awori race.
He narrated that Olofin Ogunfunminire was an offspring of Oni of Ife who migrated to Isheri Olofin as its first settler.
He said before Ogunfunminire left Ile-Ife he had consulted Ifa Oracle and was told to offer a sacrifice in a ceramic plate which should be placed on a river in front of the canoe he paddled and that while paddling the canoe he should stop and settle at the place where the ceramic plate sinks
Prince Ladega said Isheri Olofin was the place where Ogunfunminire's ceramic plate sank hence the genesis of the name Awori.
He said Ogun State was named after River Ogunfunminire and that the Aworis cut across Lagos and Ogun state, adding that out of 20 Local Governments in Lagos State, Awori owns 13 and that Awori towns of Ota and Agbara are the most industrialized parts of Ogun State.
He said Olofin Adimula of Isheri Kingdom, just like Awujale of Ijebu land and Akarigbo of Remo, is the paramount traditional ruler of Awori land.
