SOUTH WEST STUDENTS, YOUTH LEADERS DECLARE SUPPORT FOR TINUBU, SHETTIMA IN KOSOFE


A group of Students and Youths in the Southwest geopolitical zone of Nigeria on Monday declared its support for the candidature of the All Progressives Congress ( APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate Ahmed Shettima ahead of Saturday's presidential election.

The students and Youths under the aegis of the Body of Students (SUG) and Youth Stakeholders, Southwest Nigeria converged at the Kosofe Local Government Secretariat, Ogudu road to declare their support for the APC presidential candidate and his running mate.
Among the institutions that openly endorsed the APC presidential candidate in Kosofe Local Government Secretariat were Lagos State University (LASU); Lagos State University of Education (LASUED); University of Lagos (UNILAG); Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH); University of Ibadan (UI); Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba (AAUA); St. Augustine University; Federal Polytechnic Ede and the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).

The Vice President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Akinteye Babatunde Afeez in his speech stated that they decided to pitch their tents with the APC presidential candidate due to his track record when he was Lagos State Governor as well as his promise of renewed hope for the country.
He noted that the country at this critical moment needed a visionary and a deep-thinking person who can set it on the path of economic recovery and prosperity.

He, therefore, urged Nigerian students to come out en masse and vote for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Saturday's presidential election.

“We, the Nigerian students and youths, are with the man with a proven track record and renewed hope for all Nigerians. We hereby mobilize Nigerian students to come out en masse to vote for Ashiwaju Bola Tinubu and his ever-supportive and competent running mate, senator Kashim Shettima, as president and vice president of Nigeria, come February 2023.
“Nigeria needs a visionary, a deep thinker with a Midas touch, who can take our country on a journey of prosperity; this country has suffered enough that it needs a new leader and change the ways things are done", Akinteye said.

Responding to the endorsement, the son of the APC presidential candidate, Mr. Seyi Tinubu expressed delight over the endorsement and assured them that Asiwaju Tinubu would not disappoint them when elected.

He said, “Thank you to all of you. I know that the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration was one that loved Nigerian students, and the Voice of Nigerian Students Southwest has been heard, and Ashiwaju will disappoint you when he assumes office.

Earlier, In his welcome address, the Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe, urged the youths to come out en masse on Saturday and vote massively for Ashiwaju Bola Tinubu and Shettima.
He revealed that he was one of the beneficiaries of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s education policy when he was the Lagos State Governor.

He narrated that he got a free NECO form paid for by the former governor and got admitted into the university with the same NECO to obtain his BSC and Master's in law, and later became Kosofe local government chairman.

While noting that of all the presidential candidates, it was only Ashiwaju Bola Tinubu that has the interest of the students at heart, he averred that the future of the country depends on the youth.
