*URGES NIGERIANS TO EXERCISE PATIENCE AND ENDURANCE OVER SUBSIDY REMOVAL
As the curtain is about to be drawn on the 9th Session of National Assembly on Sunday, A Member House of Representatives, Kosofe Federal Constituency, Hon. (Prince) Rotimi Agunsoye has expressed his deepest appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu and the outgoing Speaker of House Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila for the opportunities and support afforded him to serve the country as a member of the lower chamber.
The Lawmaker also extended similar appreciation to the Leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), his constituents of Kosofe Federal Constituency as well as his wife and children.
Rep Agunsoye made the commendations in the farewell speech he delivered at the valedictory session of the House of Representatives held on Wednesday to toll the final adjournment of the 9th session of the Lower Chamber.
Starting with a popular saying: "there is a time and a season for everything under the Sun", Rep Agunsoye noted that the valedictory session was an auspicious moment for him and others to appreciate God and the important people who had supported them over the years.
And while quoting verses of the Holy Bible Roman: 9 v 15-16, he stressed that it was the mercy of God that had kept him and other Honourable members who were present at the valedictory session alive.
"Indeed, there is a time and a season for everything under the Sun. A time to be happy and a time for sober reflection. A time to plant and a time to reap. A time to put together and a time to scatter. A time to be born and a time to die. This is the time for us to appreciate God and appreciate ourselves.
"In the Book of Romans Chapter 9 Verse 15, when God is talking to Moses. He says: 'I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion'.
"Verse 16 of the same chapter also says: 'It is not of him that willeth nor him that runneth. It is of God Showeth mercy'.
"I think as we are here today, we are enjoying the mercy of God. So many that came in with us are no more. It is not by our power that we are alive it is to the glory of God": Hon. Agunsoye stated.
He then went on to thank the outgoing Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila for the immense support and love he showed to him as well as for his remarkable feat as Speaker of the House.
He said: " Mr. Speaker I want to appreciate you for what you have done for me; for your love, for your support and what you have done for this House. May God bless you. May God continue to lead you in your new endeavour.
"And I want to appreciate my party APC, the leadership of our party, and my Constituents that gave me the opportunity to serve from 2015 to 2023.
"Also I want to appreciate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President of the country who gave me the opportunity to serve in Lagos State as his Special Adviser on Physical Planning and Urban Development when he was Governor. And also to serve under Babatunde Raji Fashola as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
"I want to also appreciate my jewel of inestimable value and my children for giving me peace of mind to serve my Constituents because without the peace of mind they gave me I would not be able to serve".
And speaking on the issue of Petrol Subsidy removal, Rep Agunsoye appealed to the citizens of the country to exercise extreme patience and endurance, noting that the fuel subsidy removal was a right step taken in the right direction to move the country forward.
He, therefore, urged the members of the 10th National Assembly of the Lower Chamber to join hands with the executive to move the country forward.
