Kosofe LG Chair Engages Community Leaders in Constructive Dialogue on Infrastructure Development

Kosofe Local Government Chairman, Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe, on Friday, convened an important meeting with relevant Community Development Associations (CDA) Representatives to discuss crucial community development issues.

During the meeting, Chairman Ogunlewe disclosed that the council was on the verge of undertaking several infrastructure projects and that the projects would be executed through letters of request stating each community's specific demands on infrastructural issues such as road rehabilitation, primary healthcare centers, drainage systems, education facilities, and street lighting, among others.
Barrister Ogunlewe, however, expressed dismay that out of 99 CDA in the local government, only 20 had submitted their request letters.

He noted that this development was hampering the pace of his administration's response to crucial issues on dilapidated infrastructures in the Local Government as all the letters would have to be submitted to the state government at the same time for quick implementation.

He, therefore, urged the communities who were yet to submit their letters of request to do so before it was too late.

On individuals and Residential estates intending to embark on self-help community projects, Barrister Ogunlewe advised them to officially notify the council of such projects so that the council can render assistance wherever it is needed.
The gathering, which was held at the local government secretariat hall, brought together representatives from various CDAs within the Kosofe community. It served as a platform for Chairman Ogunlewe to engage with community leaders directly, enabling open and constructive dialogue aimed at fostering an inclusive and collaborative approach to developmental projects.

Highlighting the importance of the meeting, Chairman Ogunlewe stated, "We are extremely eager to commence the construction of new projects in the coming months. Hence, this meeting is a pivotal step in ensuring that every community's needs and aspirations are adequately addressed and incorporated into our development plans."

While acknowledging several complaints from Ifako area of the Local Government, Barrister Ogunlewe assured the attendees that their requests would be closely examined and considered during the planning and implementation stages. He emphasized the council's commitment to prioritizing the welfare and development of Kosofe residents, promising that no community would be left behind.

"Community development is a collaborative effort, and we are fully committed to executing projects that enhance the quality of life for all residents of Kosofe," Chairman Ogunlewe affirmed. "Your input and active participation are essential in our pursuit of progress and prosperity."

Barrister Ogunlewe also informed the gathering of the complaints received from the state government on the closure of street gates around 5 pm or 6 pm by communities.

He warned the communities concerned to desist from such acts, stressing that the reasonable time to close community gates is around 9 pm upward.

On the prevailing economic hardship in the country occasioned by the increase in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) otherwise known as Petrol, Barrister Ogunlewe urged Kosofe residents to exercise patience, stressing that normalcy would soon return.
As the meeting drew to a close, attendees expressed their appreciation for Chairman Ogunlewe's proactive approach and genuine interest in community development. The engagement between the local government and CDAs was seen as a positive step towards fostering a sense of collective responsibility and inclusive governance.
