ROT LADIES ENGAGE CONSTITUENTS IN SKILL ACQUISITION, HOLD SEMINAR ON BALANCING POLITICS WITH FAMILY LIFE
The female wing of the
political bloc of the immediate member House of Representatives, Kosofe federal
constituency, Hon. Prince Rotimi Agunsoye, otherwise known as the ROT Babes are
engaging the women of the federal constituency in a three-day skill acquisition
programme.
The skill acquisition programme
which began on Wednesday is tagged: “Empowering women and youth through skill
acquisition programme” and is being held at the Magodo office of the two-term federal
lawmaker.
At the programme which will end
on Friday, hundreds of participants across the federal constituency are being trained
in various vocations such as cream making, soap making, headgear making and
cosmetology.
The programme, according to the
president of the ROT Babes, Alhaja Rukayat Olashile Ahmed, was designed to
consolidate the accomplishments of Hon. Prince Rotimi Agunsoye who had
engaged the numerous youth and women of the constituency in different vocations
and empowerment programmes.
She stated this in her opening
address on Tuesday while welcoming guests and participants to a seminar held to
herald the three-day event
She, therefore, appealed to the
participants to take advantage of the opportunity for their well-being.
Meanwhile, at the end of the
seminar held on Tuesday, speakers were of the unanimous opinion that women need to
focus more on identifying their talents and enhancing their capacities to
effectively create an equilibrium between political and family life.
The seminar which had the theme:
“Balancing Politics and Family as a Woman,” saw participants from across the
federal constituency being taken on a roller coaster of educative and motivating
ideas by the guest speakers.
Speaking at the event, the
Iyaloja of Alaba Market in mile 12, Yeye Modupe Ojo, believed that
women can enhance their human capacities through politics and at the same time
remain responsible mothers and wives by being disciplined, committed and
industrious.
While appreciating the
supportive role men play in granting their wives the leeway to take an active part
in politics, she noted that no man would be happy seeing his wife exhibiting
acts of immorality and frivolity in the political arena.
She, therefore, charged them to
be up and doing by engaging themselves in positive and productive endeavours to
remain relevant in the political scheme of things.
She said: “Think of what you
can do for yourselves in politics and not what leaders can do for you.
“Don’t be shy and don’t be too
proud; remove pride if you want to succeed. What our leader Hon. Rotimi
Agunsoye would be proud of is for us to remain firm, industrious and
productive.
“Politically we can develop our
callings, stop making nothing out of your life and start making something in
your life”.
Also speaking at the seminar
was the former Secretary to the Local Government Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Hon. Gbenga
Osobu.
Hon. Osobu while lecturing the
participants on entrepreneurship, charged them to seek more knowledge to effectively position themselves for political and business opportunities.
In addition to self-positioning,
Hon. Osobu stressed the importance of good relationship management, self-economic
management and networking as other key techniques the participants must employ
to achieve financial prosperity and sustainability.
Another guest speaker at the
event, Mrs. Rukayat Akinwande, averred that the participants can effectively navigate
through the complexities of politics and create an equilibrium with their familial
responsibilities through flexible time management, delegating responsibilities
and supporting childcare initiatives.
