He disclosed that long before he joined the Rotary Club, he had been giving back to society and that the charitable deed had become a yearly exercise for him.

While noting that Government and Foundations alone could not solve the myriad of problems bedeviling the country, he appealed to well-meaning people to join in alleviating the problems.

"I started empowering people before I became a member of the Rotary Club and long before the establishment of my foundation.

"That is how I celebrate my birthday year in, year out instead of inviting popular musicians, wine and dine with affluent personalities, celebrate in five-star hotels or travel to Dubai.

"I realised that there are many indigent people within the community I built my house. I built my first house at the age of 30.

"We have undertaken several humanitarian projects in the past. However, the workload is too heavy for an individual to bear.

"I cannot do it alone, Rotary Club cannot do it alone and Government cannot do it alone; which is why we solicit help from well-meaning people": Chief Onigege remarked.

The birthday celebration was indeed a memorable and fulfilling day for all those in attendance as some of the dignitaries were honoured with special awards.

His Royal Highness, Dr. Benson Akingbaso was honoured as the Grand Patron of Dave Care Shelter Foundation; Senator Anthony Adefuye was honour as the Distinguished Father of the Day, while Hon. Yetunde Sakira Adesanya was honoured as Advocate for Dave Care Shelter Foundation.

He therefore urged other chiefs to emulate his good example, stressing that the King alone can solve the community's problems.

Senator Adefuye and HRH Dr. Akingbaso also praised the foundation for its impactful work in the community and pledged their support in cash and kind.

Hon. Yetunde Sakirat Adesanya, in her speech, stated that initiatives like the Dave Care Shelter Foundation play a crucial role in alleviating poverty and empowering the vulnerable members of society.
