Rotaract Club Gbagada Rehabilitates Community Borehole On Zion Close Ifako
The Rotaract Club Gbagada, under the leadership of Rotarian Yusuf Idris, has successfully rehabilitated a borehole water system on Zion Close off Bode Joseph Street, Ifako.
The project, which aimed at providing potable water to residents in the community, was officially commissioned on Friday March 15, 2024 by the District Rotaract Representative, Mujeeb Abisogun.
The rehabilitated borehole, which had been out of use for quite some time after it was constructed by the former councillor of the area, Ibrahim Bakare Olawale, was now in full working condition thanks to the efforts of the Rotaract Club Gbagada.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the President of Rotaract Club of Gbagada, Yusuf Idris, expressed his gratitude to all those who had contributed to the project's success.
And while noting that clean water is basic necessity of existence, he expressed the unwavering commitment of Rotaract Club to provide access to clean water for the well-being of individuals in different communities.
"Clean water is a basic necessity that every individual deserves to have access to, yet many communities around the world, including our own, continue to face acute water scarcity.
"By rehabilitating this borehole, we are not only providing clean water to the residents of Zion Close, but also promoting the health and wellbeing of the entire community.
"The rehabilitation of this borehole also serves as a testament to our unwavering commitment to address this challenge head-on and ensure that every individual has access to safe and clean water. Also proper maintenance is a key to making it last longer", he said.
District Rotaract Representative, Mujeeb Abisogun, commended the efforts of Rotaract Club Gbagada and emphasized the importance of community service to the upliftment of quality of life.
"Projects like this truly showcase the impact that Rotaract clubs can have on their communities. I am proud to see the dedication and hard work that Rotarian Yusuf Idris and his team have put into this project.
"With the restoration of functionality to the borehole water system, Rotaract Club have not only improved the quality of life for our community members but also laid the foundation for future generations to thrive.
"Clean water is essential for health, sanitation, agriculture, and economic development, and by investing in water infrastructure, we are investing in the well-being and prosperity of our community as a whole", he said.
The residents of Zion Close expressed their gratitude for the newly rehabilitated borehole, stating that it would greatly improve their quality of life. With clean water now readily available, they can now focus on other aspects of their daily lives without having to worry about water scarcity.
