ROTARACT DISTRICT 9112 COMMISSIONS REHABILITATED BOREHOLE FACILITY AT MUSLIM HIGH SCHOOL, SAGAMU
In an effort at addressing the water supply challenges faced by Muslim High School, Sagamu (Sabo Area), the Rotaract Club District 9112 on Thursday March 20, 2025, handed over for public use a rehabilitated borehole facility. The event, was attended by the school management, students, and other stakeholders.
The borehole rehabilitation project was undertaken to restore access to clean and safe drinking water for students and staff, improve sanitation and hygiene within the school environment, reduce dependence on alternative and often unsafe water sources, and enhance the overall learning conditions for students.
The commissioning ceremony commenced with an opening prayer, followed by a welcome address from the school's principal, who expressed gratitude for the initiative. Rotr. Simeon briefed the audience on how the project was conceived, while District Rotaract Representative, Rotr. Fathia Adekeye, highlighted the importance of the project in improving the health and welfare of the students.
Rotr. Adekeye emphasized the commitment of Rotaract District 9112 to providing sustainable water solutions in schools and communities. She encouraged the students and staff to take responsibility for maintaining the facility to ensure its longevity.
A symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony was performed, officially marking the commissioning of the rehabilitated borehole. This was followed by a demonstration of the borehole's functionality, to the delight of students and staff who had long awaited the return of a reliable and clean water source.
Students and teachers expressed their appreciation, noting that the availability of clean water would significantly improve sanitation and ease daily activities.
To ensure sustainability, it is recommended that a maintenance team be assigned to oversee the proper use and upkeep of the facility, regular servicing and monitoring be conducted to prevent future breakdowns, and the school and community work together to protect the facility from misuse or vandalism.
The event concluded on a celebratory note, with expressions of gratitude from the beneficiaries and a renewed commitment to improving school infrastructure in Muslim High School, Sagamu Sabo area.
