HAMZAT VISITS SENATOR ADEFUYE TO CONSULT ON GOVERNORSHIP AMBITION~Obanikoro, Mutiu Are, Bode Oyedele accompany deputy governor to Somolu meeting
Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, visited Senator Anthony Adefuye in Somolu to consult on his governorship ambition ahead of the 2027 elections.
Hamzat was accompanied by some of the leading lights in Lagos State politics, including Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, Alhaji Mutiu Are, Chief Bode Oyedele, and other stakeholders drawn from across the state.
The delegation was received by Senator Adefuye at his residence in the company of selected Somolu Federal Constituency leaders. Those present included Asipa Adedoyin Banjo, Elder Peter Oyewusi, Hon. Ademola Olisa, Hon. Abiodun Orekoya, and other party chieftains from the constituency.
The meeting, held behind closed doors, lasted over an hour. Attendees described the atmosphere as cordial, with wide-ranging discussions on party unity, zoning sentiments, and the future of Lagos under the APC.
In his remarks, Dr. Hamzat anchored his ambition on continuity and consolidation of government policies and programs as outlined by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from 1999 onwards. He said Lagos has benefited from a consistent development blueprint and argued that the next phase must protect those gains while scaling innovation, infrastructure, and social protection.
“Governance in Lagos is not about disruption. It is about building on what works and improving what must be better,” Hamzat told the gathering. “Our plan is to consolidate the THEMES Plus agenda, deepen technology in service delivery, and expand opportunities for young people and entrepreneurs.”
Senator Adefuye, a member of the Governance Advisory Council and respected elder in Lagos East politics, commended Hamzat for his approach to consultation. He urged the deputy governor to keep listening to party members at the grassroots and to run an inclusive campaign that respects all tendencies within the APC.
The consultation ended with prayers for Lagos and for a peaceful political season. Senator Adefuye offered his blessings to Dr. Hamzat and promised to continue engaging with all aspirants in the interest of the party.
The visit to Adefuye adds to Hamzat’s recent meetings with Prince Tajudeen Olusi and Otunba ‘Bush’ Alebiosu as he widens his outreach to elders and power blocs in the Lagos APC.
Party sources say more high-level consultations are scheduled in the coming weeks as the 2027 governorship conversation gains momentum.
