MAYOR DELE OSINOWO JOINS KOSOFE HOUSE OF REPS RACE ~Pledges “Stronger, Louder Representation” After Grassroots Record in Agboyi-Ketu
By Olusegun Apena
Lagos — Mayor Dele Osinowo, former Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area, has formally declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives, Kosofe Federal Constituency, setting up a three-way contest with incumbent Hon. Kafilat Ogbara and aspirant Remi Odunsi.
In a declaration statement on Tuesday, Osinowo anchored his bid on his record at the grassroots, promising to take what he called a “best-in-class” local government performance to federal legislative representation.
“TO GOD BE THE GLORY, MAYOR DECLARES FOR HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, KOSOFE FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY,” the statement began. “What we built at the grassroots will forever stand as a benchmark. We didn’t just make promises, we did the work. And that work was seen, felt, transformed lives and hopes were renewed across Agboyi-Ketu and Greater Kosofe.”
Osinowo said his administration in Agboyi-Ketu “changed the narrative” and “set a new standard,” claiming intervention across sectors. “Wherever there was a need, we showed up. Every area of development was touched. Name it, we delivered,” he said.
He framed the House of Representatives bid as a scale-up of that record. “And now, the time has come to answer the big question! What next? The time has come to do even more! Kosofe deserves stronger, louder, and more effective representation,” he stated. “That is why I am stepping forward: ready, prepared, and committed to take this to the next level.”
“I have never disappointed, and I will not start now. This is about showing what true representation looks like! Purposeful, visible, and impactful,” Osinowo added. “Yes, excellent performance in the Executive Arm, now is time to craft policies with care benefiting the lives of our people. Together, we will build on this legacy and take Kosofe even higher. Stronger Representation; Stronger Kosofe!”
Track Record
Osinowo served two terms as Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, one of six LCDAs in Kosofe Federal Constituency. During his tenure, his administration was noted for road rehabilitation projects, primary healthcare upgrades, and youth empowerment schemes. His government also publicized interventions in education infrastructure, including classroom construction, and a social welfare program targeting widows and the elderly. He was credited locally for the “Best LCDA” award by the Lagos State government in 2021, and for initiating the Agboyi-Ketu Legislative Building and the modernization of the council secretariat. Party leaders have previously cited his mobilization strength during state and federal elections as part of the APC’s structure in Kosofe.
