APC Kosofe House of Representatives Primary Collapses, No Election Held Across 10 Wards
By Kosofe Reporters Correspondent | On-site Coverage
What was billed as the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary for Kosofe Federal Constituency ended without a single ballot being cast yesterday, after party officials failed to show up at any of the designated venues across the constituency’s 10 wards.
Our correspondent was on ground to monitor the event from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, moving between venues in Agboyi-Ketu, Ikosi-Isheri, and Kosofe wards. In every location, hundreds of delegates and party members arrived early but could not verify their names on the party register, and waited through the day for the arrival of the APC electoral committee and materials but none came.
No Officials, No Materials, No Process
By 2:00 PM no APC officials had arrived at any of the 10 wards. Party members waited patiently, contacting ward chairmen and LGA executives for updates. No communication came through. At about 5:00 PM, with no materials, no returning officers, and no directive from the state party secretariat, the crowd dispersed in disappointment.
To be clear: no accreditation, no voting, no collation, and no signing of result sheets took place in any ward. The primary was an abortive exercise.
Fake Results Surface Online
Despite the absence of any process, conflicting results began circulating on social media by late afternoon. Supporters of aspirants Hon. Dele Osinowo and Hon. Kafilat Ogbara posted different figures claiming victory for their principals.
More alarmingly shocking is the emergence of a “result” declared in favour of Mayor Dele Osinowo and allegedly signed by Gabriel Olusesan Dada, listed as the primary election returning officer. The declaration was covered and the video clip is now being circulated online.
This raises critical questions:
1. How were cumulative results for all 10 wards generated when no election took place in any ward?
2. Who were the aspirants’ agents that supposedly signed the result sheets, since no election was held and there were no INEC officials present to witness any process?
The fake declaration of results by the returning officer amounts to fabrication and undermines the integrity of the APC’s internal democracy.
Call for Accountability
Declaring results for an election that never happened is not just irregular, it is a direct assault on party members who mobilized and waited all day to exercise their rights. It also sets a dangerous precedent for future primaries.
The APC National Working Committee and the Lagos State APC disciplinary committee should as a matter of exigency investigate the role of Gabriel Olusesan Dada. If found culpable, severe punitive action should be taken to deter similar conduct.
Party members in Kosofe deserve a transparent process, not results manufactured behind closed doors.
As of press time, the APC Lagos State chapter has not issued an official statement on the Kosofe primary. Delegates and aspirants are awaiting a rescheduled date and a credible process that allows for actual voting and collation in all 10 wards.
For Kosofe Reporters, we will continue monitoring developments and update the public as soon as the party provides clarity.
Kosofe Reporters was on ground across all 10 wards. We stand by this account based on direct observation and interviews with delegates and party officials present at the venues.
