Kosofe APC Women Warn of Sabotage After Flawed Primary, Urge Party Probe

Women leaders and grassroots mobilizers of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kosofe Federal Constituency have accused unnamed party actors of sabotaging the constituency’s House of Representatives primary, warning that the incident threatens party unity ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a statement issued on May 17, 2026, the women said thousands of members turned out on election day to vote but met “a calculated attempt to suppress the grassroots” after multiple voting centers and wards were left without official voting agents.

The group described the omission as a breach of electoral guidelines that “left the field wide open for manipulation” and created room for figures with “desperate political ambitions to rewrite results that do not reflect the reality of the ballot.”

They criticized what they called a “shameful display of political greed,” alleging that some individuals who had already served eight years as Local Government Chairmen were trying to hijack the process through administrative sabotage. “Kosofe is not a personal inheritance,” the statement read.

The women positioned themselves as the party’s mobilization base in Lagos, stating that they are the ones who “stand in the sun, mobilize the streets, and deliver the numbers required to win.” They said their time and effort should not be erased by technical manipulation.

The statement also warned the party against validating what they termed a “compromised, agentless process” to favor establishment figures. “You cannot abuse the grassroots during local primaries and expect an enthusiastic turnout for the election. A house divided against itself cannot stand,” the group said.

They called on the APC leadership at state and national levels to investigate why critical areas in Kosofe were left without voting agents, to protect what they described as the authentic choice of the people, and to reject any fraudulent mandates.

As of press time, the Lagos APC chapter had not publicly responded to the allegations.
