Kosofe, Fidelity Bank Hold "WALK FOR NATURE'' In Support Of Sustainable Ecotourism.

The Kosofe local government under the Chairmanship of Barr. Moyosore Ogunlewe, on Saturday, held a Fitness Walk tagged, "Walk For Nature" in conjunction with Fidelity Bank PLC. "Walk for Nature" is an annual program of the Nigerian Conservation Foundation designed to create awareness among the people about nature conservation and good environmental practices in Nigeria. This year's event was sponsored by Fidelity Bank, in line with its commitment to sustainable initiatives and investing in the future of local communities and the environment.          The 2023 edition of the "Walk for Nature" event was themed "We advocate solutions to plastic pollution". The Foundation for Sustainable Ecotourism took off from Kosofe local secretariat at about 7:30 am through the Ogudu axis, a distance of about 4km and then returned to Kosofe local government secretariat.      T

The Lagos State Government has advised all residents of the state living in the Ogun River banks to relocate immediately and move to the upper land for safety. This is contained in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr Tokunbo Wahab, on Wednesday in Lagos. The statement said the relocation notice became expedient following the incidence of flooding already being experienced in the neighbourhood of Ajegunle, Kara. It noted that the directive was also sequel to the alert issued by the Ogun Osun River Basin Authority on the operation of Oyan Dam for flood in September and October. The statement listed the affected catchment areas to include Alagbole, Meiran, Maidan, Kara, Isheri-Olowora, Agiliti, Owode-Onirin, Owode-Elede, Agboyi I, Agboyi II, Ajegunle, Itowolo, Majidun, Ibeshe, Baiyeku, Maidan, Lekki-Ajah and the Lagos Lagoon boundaries. Kosofe Local Government Chairman, Moyosore Ogunlewe, has inaugurated the newly elected executives of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Kosofe Local Government chapter.  The inauguration ceremony took place on Tuesday at the local government Secretariat, with several NULGE officials and employees in attendance.
