Kosofe APC Chieftains Gear Up For Dec 5th By-Elections With Stakeholders Meeting
*Call for Unity among party members
* To embark on one-week house-to-house campaign

Congress chieftains in Kosofe Local Government, Agboyi/ketu and Ikosi/Isheri
LCDA yesterday geared up for the Lagos East Senatorial and Kosofe Constituency
II by-elections which are billed to take place on December 5th with a joint stakeholders
meeting which was held at Mende Town hall, Mende Maryland.
The joint stakeholders meeting which started off around 12
noon was designed primarily to maintain peace, unity and understanding among
the party chieftains and members ahead of December 5th Lagos East
Senatorial and Kosofe Constituency II by-elections.
In attendance at the Joint Stakeholders meeting were Otunba,
Busira Alebiosu, Omooba Muyiwa Sosanya, Chief Stephen Oyedele, Hon. Sanni
Okanlawon, Hon. Dayo Alebiosu, Chief Temionu, Hon. Yetunde Arobieke, Hon. Gbemi
Ketiku, Hon. Musiliu Aigoro, Hon. Busayo Adebayo, Mayor Dele Osinowo, Princess
Samiat Bada and Hon. Jumoke Animahaun, Alhaja Kafilat Ogbara, Mrs. Jumoke Dairo
and Barr. Moyo Ogunlewe.
Others are LGA Party Chairmen, Councillors, Supervisors, Ward
Chairmen, Youth Leaders, Women Leaders and Former Ward Chairmen.
The All Progressives Congress Lagos East Senatorial District
leader Otunba Busira Alebiosu in his opening address at the joint stakeholders
meeting called for unity among leaders and members of APC in the local
government and the LCDA in order for the candidates of the party Mr. Tokunbo
Abiru and Mr. Femi Saheed to emerge victorious.
While noting that electioneering campaign in Kosofe Local
Government had been very dull compare to that of Agboyi/Ketu and Ikosi/Isheri
LCDA, Otunba Alebiosu disclosed that the party would embark on one-week intensive
house-to-house campaign to garner supports from the electorate ahead of the by-election.
A member of Governor Advisory Council (GAC) Omooba Ademuyiwa
Sosanya on his own part stated that the December 5th by-election may
turn out to be an election where only party faithful would come out to vote.
Omooba Sosanya stated that going by the prevailing harsh
economic and security situation in the country many people have become
disenchanted and apolitical.
He said therefore in order to circumvent the voters’ apathy on
the day of the by-election party members would have to be adequately mobilized
and utilized with necessary logistic and winning formula which he explained would
create multiplier effects of votes.
Another Chieftain of the party Chief Stephen Oyedele expressed
strong belief in the ability of candidates of the party in both Lagos East
Senatorial and Kosofe Constituency II by-elections to emerge victorious on December
5th while he at the same emphasized the importance of house-to-house
campaign.
Afterwards the council bosses were called upon to give
progress reports in their respective local council.
First to come on stage was the chairperson of Ikosi/Isheri
LCDA Princess Samiat Bada. In her report, Princess Bada disclosed that
electioneering activities in her LCDA was going on according to plans and that party
members and leaders were working concertedly.
While mayor Dele Osinowo, the Chairman of Agboyi/Ketu LCDA
reported that there was perfect unity in his LCDA, adding that he had been working
in collaboration with the Ikosi/Isheri LCDA party Chairman and other key
members towards the success of the party at the by-election.
He also made it known
that Agboyi/Ketu had already held its own version of stakeholders meeting before
#EndSars protests while he had also made provision for campaign souvenirs to
the party officers.
He concluded with an assurance that they would achieve great
success at the by-election and that Kosofe would garner the highest number of
votes in Lagos East.
But the Chairman of Kosofe Local Government Hon. Afolabi
Sofola was unavoidably absence due to health reason. In his absence Hon. Sanni
Okanlawon and Hon. Musiliu Aigoro briefed the gathering on the electioneering
activities in the area.
Speaking against the backdrop of complaints over poor electioneering
activities in Kosofe LG, Hon. Okanlawon informed the gathering that they had
held stakeholders meeting recently to amend the situation and that machinery had
been set in motion towards the success of the party in the by-election.
He further disclosed that leaders had also resolved to embark
on one-week intensive house-to-house campaign starting from Friday and that souvenirs
for the planned house-to-house campaign would made available.
The Director of Special Duties, Tokunbo Abiru Campaign Team,
Hon. Musiliu Aigoro while apologizing for the absence of Hon. Afolabi Sofola
due to health reason stated that the council chairman had however made provision
for refreshment at the gathering
He added that the leaders had held several meetings and that
they had resolved to intensify efforts on electioneering campaign and assured
that enough arrangement had been made for campaign logistic and souvenirs
including for the visit of Mr. Tokunbo Abiru to Kosofe Local Government which
will take place at Galaxy events Centre Ojota.
Hon. Aigoro however allayed fear on the subsisting security problem that may pose great threat to the smoothness of electioneering campaign and victory in the by-election assuring that necessary steps had been taken to arrest the ugly trend.
Commissioner for wealth creation and women affairs, Hon. Jumoke
Arobieke urged members to put their differences apart and work diligently for the
success of the party. She made it known that in realisation of this objective,
Lagos state cabinet members from Lagos East had supported the senatorial
campaign with different material and consumable items.
Similarly, the former member of federal house of
Representatives Hon. Dayo Alebiosu expressed delight at the gathering of unity
and charged the gathering to work very hard for the victory of Mr. Tokunbo
Abiru stressing that they are actually working for their success by so doing.
While the former Kosofe LG sole Administrator Hon. Jumoke Animahun
complained about the non-inclusion of key political figures in Tokunbo Abiru
Campaign Team and made a strong plea for key stakeholders to be carried along
and that logistics must adequately be provided for the party members.
