Sofola Commissions Blocks of Classrooms At Oworoshoki, Ifako


As part of efforts at uplifting the standard of education in Kosofe Local Government through provision of conducive environment for learning in all elementary schools, the Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government Hon. Afolabi Sofola yesterday commissioned 2 blocks of refurbished Classrooms at Oworoshoki and Ifako areas of the Local Government.
 Hon. Sofola Commissioned a block of 5 classrooms at Ayeroju Primary school, Oworoshoki and a block of 7 classrooms at Ifako Nursery and Primary School, Ifako.

The CDC chairman of Kosofe Local Government Area Hon. Segun Babatunde represented the Council chairman at the Commissioning of the renovated classrooms at Aiyeroju Nursery and Primary school, Oworoshoki.
While commissioning the project, Hon. Babatunde appealed to the School Authorities to make judicious use of the facility, stating that it was renovated in order to make academic learning conducive to the pupils and wean them away from cultism and other social malaise.

He said: “The Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government Hon. Afolabi Sofola has done well by renovating a block of Classrooms at Ayeroju Nursery and primary school at Oworoshoki.
“He has made use of Tax Payers money judiciously. It makes this environment conducive for pupils to learn. When the environment is conducive pupils will be ready to learn. The issue of cultism will not be in their mind. So Hon. Babatunde Sofola has done very well”. 

He appealed to the teachers to make proper use of the renovated facility and protect it from act of vandalism. He also advised the pupils to make themselves available to learning in the new environment so that they could be useful to themselves and the nation at large.

The Head teacher of the School Mrs. Ogeyingbo Adesola Oludayo expressed great delight at the renovation of the block of classrooms and thanked the executive chairman of Kosofe Local Government Hon. Afolabi Sofola.

She noted that the renovation of the classrooms has made learning conducive for the pupils of the school and also made work of the school teachers very easy.


She however called on the council chairman to once again come to the aid of the school by expediting work on the electrification of the school premises and also requested for the provision of school library.

Similarly, the Parents Teachers Association Chairman of the school Mr. Ganiu Iroko expressed happiness over the renovation of the classrooms and thanked Kosofe Local Government Chairman Hon. Afolabi Sofola for the act.

He assured that the PTA in conjunction with the school management would ensure proper maintenance of the school. He however appealed to the council chairman to look at the possibility of renovating another block of classrooms built during Jakande administration.

While the CDA Chairman of Orile-Oworo, the community where the school is located, Alhaji Yahaya Solaro also gave Kudos to the council Chairman for the renovation of the Block of Classrooms and assured that the building will be properly secured and maintained.

One of the pupils of the school who spoke to Kosofe Reporters, Master Micheal Emaiku expressed gratitude to the council Chairman saying that the renovation of the facility has afforded them the opportunity of learning in a conducive environment unlike before.

At the commissioning of Ifako Nursery and Primary school, Ifako, the Vice-Chairman of the Local Government Hon. Omotuyi Awosola represented the Council Chairman.

Hon. Omotuyi while commissioning the renovated facility stated that it is one of the primary objectives of the Local Government to provide a conducive learning environment for teachers and the pupils in government-owned primary schools, hence the renovation of the block of Classrooms.

He therefore appealed to the school management to make good use of the facility.
The Councillor of Ward C comprising Araromi, Ifako, Soluyi and Gbagada where the school is located, Hon. Ibraheem Bakare Olawale explained that the council chairman decided to renovate the block of classrooms after a heavy rain destroyed the old structure about 4 months ago thereby making academic activities unconducive for the both the pupils and the teachers.
He stated that the quick response of the council chairman to renovate the building destroyed by the heavy downpour and make it available for academic activities is a clear indication that the council Chairman and Legislators are indeed doing their jobs.
He added that with the renovation of the classrooms the pupils now have the opportunity of learning in a conducive environment. 
An APC chieftain in the Ward Chief Olukayode Onasanya praised the council chairman over the renovation of the classrooms and called on the school management to ensure proper maintenance of the facility.

While the Head teacher of Ifako Nursery and Primary school Mr. Cletus Ifaribido expressed profound appreciation to the council Chairman for deeming it fit to renovate the shattered classrooms in very short period in the face of severe economic downturn occasioned by covid-19 pandemic.

He revealed that no sooner had he been transferred to the school than when the heavy rain occurred, destroying his office and other classrooms.
He said he had to call the Ward Councillor to witness the incident after which he wrote an official letter to the council chairman.

He noted that the timely intervention of the chairman would go a long way in making academic learning conducive to the pupils and also promised to ensure proper maintenance of the structure.

Sunday Omofojoye, Council Treasure, Pastor Tunde Olugbuyi, Council Engineer, Mr. Ekundayo Olabode, and HOD Budget, Mrs Modupe Adekola.
