The executive chairman of Kosofe Local Government Hon. Afolabi Sofola has urged residents of the local government to go out en-masse and exercise their civic responsibility by registering or revalidating their membership of All Progressives Congress as the party’s registration exercise continues.
Hon. Sofola made this statement on Monday minutes after revalidating his membership of the party at his polling unit at Aladura Comprehensive High school Anthony Village.
In an interview with Kosofe Reporters, the council chairman who was reported to have travelled out of the country just before the registration exercise began expressed satisfaction with the turn-out for the exercise while at the same time urging residents who are yet to register to go and do so, stressing that it is a civic responsibility they must perform.
“My advice to them is they should find time to register before the exercise is over. It is part of their civic responsibilities. They have right and duty to perform it.
“The turn-out has been quite impressive. Going by the report I have been getting, it is not a bad turn-out at all. But we still want them to come out because a lot of them are yet to register. I advise those that have not registered to come out and register”: Sofola said.
Hon. Sofola noted that the ongoing nationwide membership registration and revalidation exercise of the party is very important and that it would enable the party to properly reposition itself for efficient and effective delivery of democratic dividends.
He disclosed that in order to make the exercise hitch-free and successful, the local government had provided logistic support by giving N800,000 at the beginning of the exercise to the LGA Party Chairman Alhaji Kehinde Bello to enable him procure necessary materials such as chairs, tables, canopies, biros, gums etc. for use in all the polling units while he has also released additional N800,000 immediately after his return.
He said apart from this, they had also placed advert on radio and on social media to mobilize and sensitize members of the public about the exercise.
