• As Okla graces event, commissions borehole project.

As part of efforts to ease the problem of acute water shortage at Ward C (Araromi, Ifako, Soluyi and Gbagada) in Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State, the councillor representing the Ward, Hon. Ibraheem Bakare Olawale has constructed and commissioned two public borehole water projects in the ward.

Hon. Ibraheem Bakare constructed a public borehole at Soluyi and another one on Oriola Street at Araromi. The two public water projects were commissioned yesterday for immediate use by the Lawmaker representing Kosofe Constituency 1 in Lagos State House of Assembly Hon. Sanni Babatunde Okanlawon and Baale of Araromi Sawmill Alhaji Oriola Onalaja.

Speaking to Newsmen at the commissioning of the water projects, the ward Councillor stated that he decided to construct the two boreholes in order to ease the problem of water shortage in the area and to also fulfil part of the promises he made to the residents of the area to facilitate developmental projects to the area.

The councillor also disclosed that the two boreholes had been handed over to the CDA of the area and advised the members of the two communities to ensure their proper maintenance.

Hon. Sanni Okanlawon while commissioning the borehole at Soluyi commended Hon. Ibraheem Bakare Olawale for taking the bold step to singlehandedly construct the boreholes for the people of his ward while stating that it was not part of the responsibilities of lawmakers to construct public projects.

He noted that the act of the councillor clearly showed that he was sensitive and responsive to the plight of his people.

He therefore advised the residents of the community to replicate the good gesture of the councillor by making proper use of the project so that it could last for a very long time.

Similarly, the Baale of Araromi while commissioning the borehole at Oriola street described the project as first of its kind, noting that no councillor in the history of the ward had ever undertaken to deliver similar project.

While the Baale of Soluyi 2 Chief Solomon Olamiju also described the borehole project which was being commissioned by the councillor as a great development, saying no councillor had ever done similar things in the history of the ward.

He noted that if the community had been having similar projects like this in the past, the community would have been better off as they had been facing the problem of good potable water due to the swampy terrain of the community.

He assured that he would ensure proper maintenance of the project so that it could last for a very long time.

The All Progressives Congress youth leader of the ward Mr. Azeez Balogun expressed delight with the borehole water projects in his ward while describing the councillor of the ward as a man that has the interest of his people at heart.

He assured that the two borehole water projects would be properly maintained as they have been located in strategic places where they could be properly monitored and maintained.

While the APC Chairman of the ward Alhaji Agboola Azeez described Hon. Ibrahim Bakare as the best councillor the ward has ever had, adding that no councillor has ever done what he did.

Alhaji Agboola noted that the communities in the ward are facing challenges of acute shortage of water as there are no public water system while majority of those who have boreholes are selling them.

He therefore praised the councillor for taking the initiative to bring relief to the people of the area.

He also praised the council Chairman Hon. Afolabi Sofola for the infrastructural projects he commissioned in the ward and the entire local government in recent time.

He particularly expressed surprise that a council chairman whose tenure is about coming to an end in few months’ time could be so serious in constructing and delivering public infrastructural projects.
