ADEBARE/OKO COLE TRANSFORMER SAGA CONTINUES AS ZONE II POLICE QUIZZED KOSOFE CDC MEMBER, TAIWO OLANIYI
*MAY
INVITE TWO OTHER PERSONS FOR QUESTIONING
*MATTER
MAY BE TAKEN TO COURT
The last has definitely not been heard about the controversy on
Adebare/Oko-Cole Transformer as the police in Zone II command Headquarters, Onikan Lagos, yesterday interrogated One Mrs. Taiwo Olaniyi over her involvement in the
illegal transfer of a transformer belonging to Adebare Development Community to
Oko Cole Community both in Oworoshoki, Kosofe Local Government Area, while Chief
Sakiru Odularan popularly known as “Skido” and another person simply identified
as Balogun may be invited for questioning over the matter.
Mrs. Olaniyi who is the financial Secretary of the Community
Development Committee in Kosofe Local Government Area was invited by the police
for questioning over allegations that she deliberately misinformed residents of
the community that the former Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government,
Hon. Afolabi Sofola, had instructed the CDC chairman, Mr. Segun Babatunde, to transfer
the transformer to Oko Cole Community.
It was also alleged that she openly admitted before two
members of the community that she was given an undisclosed amount of money for
her involvement in the illegal transfer of the transformer to Oko Cole.
She was said to have boastfully stated in Yoruba language, “mo
gba owo, mi mowo to je” (I was given money but I don’t care what the money is
all about), in the presence of Chief Odularan (Skido) while Balogun is said to
be the person that informed Mrs. Adebare of the statement.
The petitioner Mrs. Adebare had told the police that the false
information given to the members of Adebare community by Olaniyi on the fateful
day made them yield to the pressure of the CDC Chairman and others who had
come to forcefully relocate the transformer to Oko Cole.
She said, if Olaniyi, who is a well-known resident and CDC
member in the community had not made the misleading statement, residents who
had all along been resisting the attempt of CDC chairman to carry the
transformer would not have allowed the transformer to be carried away.
Olaniyi, however, denied the allegations, saying there was no
time she made the statement neither did she receive any money for her
involvement in the transfer of the controversial transformer.
However, Zone II command Headquarters has vowed to get to the
roots of the matter while it also stated that the matter may be taken to court
at the end of its investigation if an amicable settlement is not reached by both parties.
And as the matter drags on, both Chief Odularan (Skido) and
Balogun may also be invited by the command to come and explain what they know
about the controversial transformer.
It will be recalled that two weeks ago, Hon. Afolabi Sofola
was at Zone II Command Headquarters where he cleared the air on the controversial
matter, revealing that he did not issue a directive to the CDC chairman while in
office to transfer the transformer to Oko Cole.
The CDC chairman, Mr. Segun Babatunde, had claimed in a
statement he made to the Police that the former Council Boss gave him the
directives to transfer the transformer to Oko Cole Community.
