Amidst a deluge of eulogies and commendations, Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe celebrated 100 days of his stewardship as the Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government on Thursday.
Barrister Ogunlewe who was sworn in on July 27, 2021 also used the opportunity of the occasion to showcase some of the achievements his administration had been able to record within three months at the helms of affairs of the local council.
Speaking before the gathering of visibly ecstatic residents and party stalwarts at a colourful ceremony which was held at the council secretariat along Ogudu road, Ojota, the council helmsman thanked the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the immense support given to him.
He also thanked the party stalwarts, members and residents of the local government for their supports and confidence reposed in his ability to steer the rudder of the local government.
And while giving assurance of his determination to continue in prioritizing the welfare and infrastructural needs of the people of the local government area, he noted that his administration had been able to rise to the occasion with the provision of some basic amenities and infrastructural facilities within three months.
The council boss who was sworn in on July 27, 2021, enumerated the achievements of his administration as follow: construction of 10 roads across the 7 wards of the local government, purchase of 4 revenue buses for Area offices, an Ambulance, an Aluta Jet bus for NULGE, a bus for the legislators and a bus for market women.
Others are the construction of Primary Health Centre at Oworonsoki, construction of customary court and distribution of 150 GCE forms.
He said: " The beginning of every task is usually the most vital, challenging and determining. How well you start says a lot about how far you will go...
"Prioritizing the welfare of the people is important for any government's success and this is why I always want to hear your views and comments to know what is wrong and how it can be put right.
" The people of Kosofe are, and will always be this administration's number one priority. It was what we promised and it was what we will deliver"
Party Chieftains and residents were full of praise for the council chairman, describing his performance in 100 days in office as a remarkable feat worthy of great commendations.
The lawmaker representing Kosofe Federal Constituency, Hon. Prince Rotimi Agunsoye, in his goodwill message, lauded, Barrister Ogunlewe for his remarkable achievements in the office within a very short period.
He noted that the performance of the lawyer cum politician was exceptional and justified the enactment of not too young to run bill by the national assembly while at the same time emphasizing the importance of the third tier of government to grassroots development.
While reeling out the projects Barrister Ogunlewe embarked upon to the large gathering, Hon. Agunsoye announced a donation of 2 motorcycles to the local government to complement the one procured by the chairman for dispatch services.
Similarly, the Lagos State Commissioner for Wealth Creation and employment, Otunba Yetunde Arobieke described the 100 days in office performance of Barrister Ogunlewe as highly commendable.
She noted that the council chairman whom she described as a young vibrant youth had justified the confidence reposed in him by the party leadership, stressing that his performance would pave way for more youth to be entrusted with leadership positions.
While the lawmaker representing Kosofe Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly Hon. Sanni Okanlawon described the 100 days in office performance of Barrister Ogunlewe as legendary and phenomenal.
He stated that Barrister Ogunlewe since the assumption of office has excellently brought good governance to bear and added value to the lives of the people of the local government, stressing that the chairman should henceforth be called "fantabulous Moyo".
The commissioner for Local Government and community affairs Dr. Wale Ahmed who was represented by his Permanent Secretary Mrs. Kike Sanyaolu commended Barrister Ogunlewe for the laudable works he had done, stating that he is a round peg in a round hole.
He noted that the council chairman has proved beyond reasonable doubt that he is a young vibrant man full of ideas going by what he had been able to achieve within a short while.
While the Kosofe Branch Chairman of the National Union of Local Government Employee ( NULGE), Comrade Sunday Orababa lauded Barrister Ogunlewe for being sensitive and committed to improving the working condition of the council's staff through increasing the staff welfare package and provisions of necessary facilities to increase the staff output.
Comrade Orababa disclosed that the council chairman on his first day in office was able to increase the staff welfare package from 500000 Naira to 1,000,000 naira and also increased the non-pensionable staff salaries.
He added that the chairman in fulfilment of his promise during the electioneering period purchase another bus for the Union and 4 buses to enhance revenue collection while the council is enjoying constant electricity supply through prompt payment of electricity bills.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the chief of staff to the chairman, Mr. Akin Abiona, appealed to the residents to take proper ownership of the projects which have been provided by the local government.
The highlight of the ceremony was the commissioning of all the buses and ambulance procured by Barrister Moyo Ogunlewe-led administration.
The buses were commissioned by Prince Rotimi Agunsoye and Hon. Sanni Okanlawon.
The occasion was graced by party chieftains, CDC/ CDA members, religious leaders, market leaders, Royal fathers and party faithful such as the former Federal Minister of Works and Housing, Sen. Adeseye Ogunlewe, Chief Francis Temionu Hon. Musiliu Aigoro, Hon. Adebayo Busayo, Hon. Jumoke Animahun, Prince Fatai Gbadebo Alh. Kehinde Bello and Otunba Bowale Benson.
Others are Oba Olawale Cole, Olojota of Ojota; Oba Adegboruwa Kasali of Igbogbo Ikorodu, Hon. Solaja and Hon. K. K Elesin.
