HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE ON JUDICIARY PAYS A WORKING VISIT TO KOSOFE LG





As part of its oversight functions, Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights, Public Petitions and LASIEC, yesterday, paid a working visit to Kosofe Local Government Council.


The Committee which was led by its Chairman, Hon. Victor Olusegun Akande, was in the Council to assess the ongoing reconstruction of the Customary Court in the local government and also to ensure that no impediment stands on the way of administration of Justice at the local level.


Speaking on behalf of other members, Hon. Akande applauded the Executive Chairman, Kosofe Local Government Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe for a job well done in situating the customary court in a conducive, serene and clean environment.


The Committee Chairman, representing Ojo Constituency, therefore, advised that the customary Court when completed should be properly used to boost the revenue base of the Council. 


He also appealed to the Council's boss to make adequate provision for all important  materials and tools needed to make the court functional.


In his address, the Council Chairman, Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe stated that his administration decided to reconstruct the customary court from the scratch not  because he is a lawyer by profession but to give it a facelift as a temple of justice knowing full well that it is very vital to the Local government. 


He, therefore, thanked the visiting lawmakers for their commendations which he said would spur him to do more, adding that the good working relationship between the council and kosofe customary court was very cordial and commendable.


Present at the visit were the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Victor Olusegun Akande; Member of the Committee, Hon. Jude Idimogu; Secretary of the Committee, Mr. Oladega S.K; the Legal Officer Hon Tunwase K.; the Court President, Mrs Olayinka Onabolu; member of the court, Mrs. Omoniyi Agiri; the Council Manager, Mr. MBS Arole; the Management team, Committee Members amongst other.
