LAHA 2023: SANNI OKANLAWON GIVES ACCOUNT OF STEWARDSHIP
MEMBER LAGOS STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY
CHAIRMAN HOUSE COMMITTEE ON EDUCATION (MINISTRY/AGENCIES)
KOSOFE CONSTITUENCY 1
PART (1)
A quintessential politician that best describes the personality of Hon. Sanni Ganiyu Okanlawon, a member of Lagos State House of Assembly is a silent and unassuming achiever who gives his constituency, Kosofe 1, quality representation.
He is not new to service and politics in Lagos State. He developed the spirit of communal participation early in life while attending Community development associations and political meetings which prepared him for his political sojourn.
The lawmaker has always been a part of the success story of the new Lagos instituted by Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu (between 1999 and 2007) and continues under Babatunde Raji Fashola (2007 to 2015) through Akinwunmi Ambode (2015 to 2019) and now being pursued gloriously under Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu.
He fully joined governance at the local government level as Secretary to the Kosofe Local Government between 2004 and 2007. Between 2015 and 2019, he served as the Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Food Security under whose Watch LAKE Rice, a joint venture between Lagos and Kebbi states was birthed.
He contested and won the seat to represent Kosofe Constituency 1 at the Lagos State House of Assembly in 2019. Currently he is the Chairman House Committee on Education (Ministry/Agencies) in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Today, Okla as popularly known is making waves in the Lagos State House of Assembly as the potent voice and credible representative of his constituents.
The lawmaker is one of the very few lawmakers that have demonstrated political dexterity and laudable leadership in the discharge of his legislative duties. No wonder the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Mudashiru Obasa made case for his return at a function held recently in Kosofe where he narrated the need for political stakeholders and constituents to return him for another term. The Speaker noted that returning him to the Lagos Assembly will surely fast track policies, programmes and projects for greater good of Kosofe Constituents.
In addition, the Speaker opined that in the interest and development of Lagos State, and the people of Kosofe Constituency 1, there is the need to have experienced legislators returned to the House in the likes of Hon Sanni Ganiyu Babatunde Okanlawon and reiterated that without experience, it is natural that they will be limited to what they can do and achieve.
