"E lo F'ọkan Balẹ" My Reign Will Usher in Peace, Normalcy, Prosperity - Newly-Crowned Oloworo Assures Residents
Oba Babatunde Saliu gave the assurance on Friday while addressing some residents of Oworonshoki community and other well-wishers who had thronged his palace to congratulate him on ascending the throne of his ancestors.
In what seemed to be his first public interaction since his emergence as the new Oloworo of Oworo, Oba Saliu urged the people of Oworonshoki to be at peace with themselves, stressing that the brouhaha over the obaship tussle has finally been laid to rest.
Addressing the crowd in Yoruba, the former Kosofe Local Government Vice-Chairman declared that his reign would henceforth usher in peace, unity, normalcy, prosperity and tranquility in the ancient town.
He prayed for the progress and prosperity of Oworonshoki residents and business owners while he also prayed women conceive and deliver with ease.
He said: " E lo F'ọkan Balẹ, Ko s'ogun mo, Ko sí ìjà mọ. A ti di kàn". Meaning: "Be at peace with yourselves. There is no more rancour, no more tussle. We are one. We are ready to make peace with everyone".
He said for the peace and progress of Oworonshoki he is ready to mend fences with aggrieved people and would heartily welcome them to his palace.
Oba Babatunde Saliu became the new monarch of Oworonshoki Kingdom on Wednesday after receiving his certificate and staff of office from the Lagos State Government; succeeding his late father, Oba Bashir Oloruntoyin Saliu who joined his ancestors late last year.
Before his emergence as the new Oloworo of Oworo, he was the Vice Chairman of Kosofe Local Government. He was sworn in as Vice Chairman along with the present local government chairman Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe on July 27, 2021.
Prince Babatunde Saliu was born and raised in Lagos. He attended Irepodun Primary School, Sari Iganmu, Lagos and Comprehensive High School, Ayetoro, Ogun State.
He has two Bachelor’s degrees in Philosophy and Business Administration and two Master’s degrees in Philosophy & Public Administration and International Affairs at the prestigious University of Lagos along with other certifications.
He is currently running his PhD programme in Unilag.
Prince Babatunde Saliu served as Special Assistant (SA) to former Lagos State governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) on Waterfront Infrastructural Development from 2012 – 2015. And was Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Land Matters.
