SALIU ROYAL FAMILY, OWORO COMMUNITY CELEBRATE NEW OLOWORO SEVEN-DAY ASCENSION TO THE THRONE


The Palace of Oloworo of Oworonshoki Kingdom on Tuesday became a scene of great excitement and jubilation as the people of Oworonshoki land came out in large numbers to celebrate the seven-day ascension to the throne of His Royal Majesty Oba Babatunde Saliu (Elebo II) - The Oloworo of Oworonshoki Kingdom.


The palace and the street adjacent to it were agog with the convergence of beautiful melange of Saliu royal family, Ojora royal family, Oworonshoki residents, traditional rulers, Oworonshoki council of elders, community leaders, religious groups, trade union association, friends and political associates of Oba Babatunde Saliu from across the length and breadth of Lagos who had come to rejoice over his seven-day ascension to the throne of his ancestors.


The Seven-day ascension to the throne celebration which is known in Yoruba Royal tradition parlance as "Ije" is a culmination of a series of excitements which had been brewing since the emergence of Oba Babatunde Saliu as the new monarch of Oworonshoki Kingdom.

It is also a form of symbolic public show of approval and pledge of allegiance to the reign of the new monarch.



 The event which was graced by the Lagos State Hon. Commissioner for Home Affairs Prince Olanrewaju Elegushi, was a resplendent spectacle to behold as well-wishers and guests mostly decked in uniform "Aso Ebi" danced excitedly to delightful melodious songs blaring from the loudspeakers.


A popular Fuji musician Alhaji Muri Thunder performed at the event while guests were also treated to various sumptuous food and drinks.

The sensation of the moment Oba Babatunde Saliu ìn company of his royal family moved from one tent to another flipping his royal horse tail at guests, friends and colleagues in a show of appreciation.


In one of the memorable moments of the occasion, the Oloworo of Oworo and his beautiful wife, Olori Bukola Saliu joined other members of the royal family to dance to the rave song of the moment "Buga" rendered by an invited local musician.


But before revelry was let loose, a conclave of traditional fraternity consisting of men and women from across Lagos State had gathered at the palace of Oloworo of Oworo to bless his reign and also give a seal of traditional approval.


The traditional cult group who were 17 in number and dressed in immaculate white clothes with other paraphernalia prayed for the protection, peace and long reign of the Oloworo and his royal family on the stool.


The convergence of the traditional fraternity group on the Ije celebration once again vividly proved that Oba Babatunde Saliu enjoys the total support and backing of the people of the esoteric world.


Oba Babatunde Saliu it will be recalled was installed as the new King of Oworonshoki Kingdom on June 15 2022 and was immediately given a certificate and staff of office by the Lagos state government.
