MANDATE GROUP SETS FOR COMEBACK ON THURSDAY WITH "MOTHER OF ALL RALLY"
The Mandate Group, a dominant political group in Lagos State, is set to announce its much-expected comeback with a rally in support of the political ambitions of the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.
The Political rally which has been dubbed "the Mother of All Rally" is billed to take place on Thursday December 1st, 2022.
Kosofe Local Government, Agboyi/Ketu and Ikosi/Isheri LCDA chapters of the group will participate in the rally as thousands of people loyal to the Group across the 20 local government areas and 37 LCDAs have been mobilized for Thursday's rally to show their solidarity and support for the APC flag bearers.
The rally which will see thousands of the group loyalists march to the state party's secretariat ACME, will announce the return of the group into the political space of Lagos after over two years hiatus following the dissolution of all political groups affiliated to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State by the leadership of the party.
It will be recalled that the Governor's Advisory Council (GAC), the highest decision-making body of APC Lagos, on June 9, 2020 announced the dissolution of all groups within the party in the state.
The decision of the GAC to dissolve all political groups was predicated on the need to strengthen the unity of the party ahead of the 2023 general elections.
But a few months after the dissolution, the Party became even more fragile and badly polarized following the poor turnouts of Ward Congresses, delegates and primary elections held across the state where party members perceived to be mandate members were surreptitiously schemed out.
Our Investigations showed that while the leadership of Mandate group in the state totally acceded with the decision of the GAC banning all groups, its counterpart, nevertheless, continued to operate covertly through the party's helmsman in Lagos state who is alleged to be a Justice Forum die-hard loyalist.
The party's helmsman was able to assist the Chieftains of Justice Forum to successfully manipulate and countermand the collective decisions of the party leadership.
With the bold return of the Mandate Group to the political fray, the real politicking has now begun and the insidious reign of Justice Forum may have come to its abrupt end.
