Fuel Subsidy Removal: Moyosore Ogunlewe Launches Free Food Bank Initiative, Distributes Food Packs To Kosofe Residents
In his bid to alleviate the hardship being experienced by the residents of Kosofe Local Government occasioned by the fuel subsidy removal, the Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Hon. Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe has launched a Free Food Bank Initiative.
The free food bank Initiative was launched on Tuesday at the local government secretariat by the council chairman with the distribution of free food packs consisting of rice, beans, and garri.
Over 5,000 residents, including aged men, women, and youth who had stormed the secretariat as early as 8 am benefited from the distribution of free food packs.
In a chat with newsmen, the council Chairman stressed the importance of providing succour to the most vulnerable members of society during challenging times, adding that the initiative is part of his welfare programme for the residents of the local government area.
Barrister Ogunlewe further expressed his commitment to the welfare and well-being of the people of Kosofe Local Government, assuring that the initiative will be a monthly exercise and would last for as long as possible.
"It is an initiative I have always wanted to do even before the removal of the fuel subsidy. We call it Kosofe Grassroots Benefits.
" This means that people at the ward level will benefit from whatever we are doing in the council. And this is also the launch of the Kosofe food bank Initiative.
"This is going to be happening every month and we will be moving from house to house to give them food": Barrister Ogunlewe stated.
He, therefore, encouraged residents to take advantage of the Free Food Bank Initiative and urged them to adhere to the distribution guidelines set forth by the local government.
