NOELLA Foundation, Kosofe LG Join Forces to Combat Hunger With Distribution of 2000 Bags of Rice
In a bid to eradicate hunger and nourish the community, NOELLA Foundation in conjunction with Kosofe Local Government on Wednesday distributed about 2000 10kg bags of rice to the residents of Kosofe Local Government.
The beneficiaries of this laudable initiative consisted of vulnerable individuals, CDC/CDA members, market women, artisans, and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The distribution of the food packs which took place in Kosofe Local Government secretariat was supervised by the Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe.
Beneficiaries of the food packs who had gathered at the council secretariat as early as 8 am were well received by the representatives of NOELLA Foundation and the local government, while the atmosphere was tinged with excitement and gratitude, as they queued patiently to receive their share of bags of rice.
The Creative Executive of NOELLA Foundation, Adejoke Kadejo, in a chat with Newsmen, expressed appreciation to Barrister Ogunlewe for the perfect organisation of the food pack distribution.
She explained that the foundation was the brainchild of Mr. Seyi Tinubu and his wife Laya Tinubu and has as its main purpose the eradication of hunger among the populace.
She added that the nonprofit organisation had undertaken similar initiatives in some other local governments in Lagos State and had been at the forefront of other numerous philanthropic initiatives across various sectors.
She said the initiative they were running in conjunction with Kosofe Local Government was designed to help the community and reach out to a certain number of people with about 2000 bags.
She added that the initiative is going to be an ongoing one and that they intend to reach out to other local governments as well.
She further noted the the organisation had already rendered similar assistance to sickle cell organisation and also reached out to Eti-Osa Constituency II few weeks ago.
The executive chairman of Kosofe Local Government Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe expressed appreciation to NOELLA Foundation for collaborating with the local government to eradicate hunger.
He emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing societal challenges, stressing that the initiative complemented the food bank program his administration had undertaken to alleviate hunger within the last 3 months in the local government area.
"I want to thank NOELLA Foundation for this wonderful initiative. Everyone knows how the country is and this really helps those within the community.
"Kosofe food bank initiative was also launched about 3 months ago and we have been doing it every month and also distributing palliatives to people in their various homes.
"It's a right step in the right direction. We need support and NOELLA Foundation is doing that by bringing succour": the council boss remarked.
The successful distribution of the 10kg bags of rice brought a glimmer of joy to the beneficiaries as they profoundly expressed their gratitude to both NOELLA Foundation and Kosofe Local Government.
