TA'AWUN Holds 2nd Annual Forum To Commemorate Nigeria's 64th Independence Anniversary; Sensitizes Youth On Socio-political Roles

A Non Governmental Organization, Ta'awun Political Forum Lagos State Chapter, on Tuesday, held its 2nd annual forum to commemorate Nigeria's 64th independence anniversary. 

The forum, themed: "Nigeria at 64, Youths Socio-political Roles Towards Better Future," took place at Emmanuel Primary School in Ojota, Lagos. The event aimed to educate and empower Nigerian youths, encouraging them to take an active role in shaping a better future for the country.


The forum was attended by notable guests, including Hon. Femi Saheed, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Kosofe Constituency II; Ojota Joint CDA Chairman, Oluomo Jamiu Talabi and Arewa Community Leader in Ojota, Alahji Ibrahim Soja.



While the Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe; the event's Mother of The Day Princess Bola Kazeem and Ogudu Area H Commander, ACP Daniel Oguntona were represented at the event.




Besides, community leaders and local government chairmanship aspirants joined the discussion, making it a diverse and engaging event.






Speaking at the event, Hon. Femi Saheed praised the organizers of the forum for providing a veritable platform and initiative to sensitize and reorientate the youth on their socio-political roles in the country.
He averred that there was no socio-political barrier hindering the ability of the youth to attain leadership positions and thereby play important roles in its economic rediscovery.




He added that in order for the youth to fulfill their potential, they must eschew violence and engage in productive activities.

He also urged them to be patriotic and support the Administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's quest to revamp the economy of the country.

In similar vein, the Chairman of Ojota Joint CDA, Oluomo Jamiu Talabi, who was also the father of the day, appealed to the youth to rededicate themselves to the peace and progress of the country.

While noting the negative impact of the prevailing hardship in the country, he appealed to the youth to exercise patience, pray for peace and progress of the country, and support the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's efforts at reforming the economy.

The commander Area H Police Division, Ogudu, ACP Rotimi Daniel Oguntona who was represented by ASP Raji Umoru, in his address warned the youth not to indulge in criminal activities that are prejudicial to the attainment of brighter future.


He implored them to focus their energies on education attainment and other meaningful engagements in order to be good citizens of the country as well as fulfill their dreams.

The forum provided a platform for invited youth to engage in socio-political discussions with guests, focusing on their roles in building a better future for Nigeria. It was an inspiring event that highlighted the importance of youth participation in the country's political landscape. 

Earlier In his welcome address, Mr. Taiwo Lasisi, the President of TPF Lagos State Chapter disclosed that the organization was founded in 2020 to provide humanitarian services and sensitize the citizens on their Civic rights and socio-political roles.

He added that since its establishment, the organization had carried out several political awareness programs, free tutorial, workshops, empowerments and free health and medical services.

He, however, stated that the organization was being hampered by acute lack of funds, support and personnel to effectively discharge its humanitarian services to citizens across the state. 

He, therefore, called on well-meaning people to come to the aid of the organization.
