HAMZAT CONSULTS OTUNBA ‘BUSH’ ALEBIOSU ON GUBERNATORIAL AMBITION ~Emotional meeting highlights generational ties as deputy governor widens 2027 outreach

Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, has held a consultation visit with elder statesman Otunba Busura Ishola Adedeji Alebiosu, popularly known as “Bush” Alebiosu, regarding his ambition to become the next Governor of Lagos State.  

The meeting took place at the Mende residence of Otunba Alebiosu and was described by attendees as warm and reflective. Sources said the conversation moved beyond politics to family history, loyalty, and service to Lagos.  

At one point, Baba Bush was moved to tears as he recalled fond memories he shared with the late father of Dr. Hamzat, Oba Mufutau Olatunji Hamzat. The elder statesman spoke about decades of political partnership with the Hamzat family, noting that their ties cut across generations and predated the current democratic dispensation.  
Otunba Alebiosu, a respected APC leader and longtime political figure in Lagos East Senatorial District, listened carefully as Dr. Hamzat laid out his vision for a Greater Lagos. The deputy governor spoke on continuity, innovation, and inclusive governance, and sought counsel on uniting the party and deepening grassroots confidence ahead of the 2027 race.  

According to those present, Otunba Alebiosu offered frank advice on leadership, patience, and the burden of public office. He stressed the need for broad consultation, respect for elders, and a campaign rooted in performance and humility. At the end of the session, he gave his fatherly blessings to Dr. Hamzat as he pursues the governorship of Lagos.  

The visit is part of a wider round of consultations Hamzat has been holding with members of the Governance Advisory Council, traditional rulers, former governors, and key stakeholders across the three senatorial districts. Party insiders say the deputy governor is building on existing relationships while seeking new endorsements to consolidate his base before any formal declaration.  

Otunba ‘Bush’ Alebiosu is regarded as one of the influential voices in Kosofe politics and has mentored several political office holders in Lagos. His blessing is considered significant within APC structures in Lagos East Senatorial District.

APC Adjusts Primary Elections Timetable Again, Shifts Special Congresses To May 16-17

  The All Progressives Congress (APC) has once again proposed an adjustment of its Timetable for participation in the 2023 General elections and has moved its Special Congresses for Delegates to May 16 and 17. Special Congresses were originally scheduled to hold from Thursday, May 12, until the Party, which is currently racing against time, took the decision to change the date and allow time for critical announcements and orientation of committee members before the Congresses.
